After a seemingly endless number of release candidates, the last official one being rc666 (get it).
The final winamp 5.0 is out in time for christmas.
Modern skin support within the old winamp 2 framework will be the big seller for most people, but a number of other changes have been made.

I've been using most of the released beta versions. It just keeps getting better each time.

Although I was unable to download it from Winamp (file not found error), it is available at http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2490

I was a bit worried about letting it over write my winamp 3 stuff (not that I used it but the skins where cool) but to my suprise those skins work with it also. Im very happy with it.

I love winamp again! I have used this version since it was in alpha and it is everything that 3 should have been. In fact it has something I have been missing from winamp's previous incarnations. It has to be put in the skin, but it has the ability to do notification. It nicely displaces the info about the song in a little box and that gradually disappears in about 10 seconds. Its a feature that is available in the new modern skin(which is tons better than the old default skin).
I had trouble downloading it from several sites, but at download.com it worked fine.
