Problem with AI stopping

Bought this game a while back and just getting to play it ....been very busy :)

So, I'm a noob at it. I've been playing a 2vs2 on medium map to learn/test. I found out that on a saved game i can change who i was playing, see in on how the AI was doing things. This seemed like a good way to get some insight, but when i moved my team member to colonize an astro i liberated, I found that the AI stopped working for him. It seems if I try to peek in on any player the AI stops. Is this a bug? Is there a fix? I'm running 1.191 and impulse say's that it is the latest.  ???

I've also experienced this issue before.  I'm afraid I don't have any solutions for you.  I do know that you won't run into any problems if you're just changing the difficulty of the AI, but if you actually put an AI in the position formerly held by a human player it bugs up.

Anyways, a good way to actually watch the game unfold is replays (they're automatically generated) and you can watch what the AI is doing as it's doing it.  Just a word of warning; watching the AI is a great way to learn the basics, but anything more subtle or complex really isn't its forte to begin with.  There are some great replays of actual players demonstrating good early-game colonization pace and fleet management.
