How about people neutral!

The whole Carbon Footprint thing is just as stupid as Global Warming, oops, I mean Climate Change, since it hasn't actually gotten warmer.  Nice of them to change the name when it didn't fit in with their designs huh?  I'm also sick of the word "Green", the terms "Go Green",  "Made Green",  "Be Green", and anything like it.  I'm not saying we shouldn't try to have a better impact on our planet, but damn, enough is enough already.

Oh it's not all bad.  It's hard to tell just how many tons of styrofoam aren't buried in the landfills for the next thousand years just because MacDonald's started using paper wrappers instead of those styrofoam boxes they had been using.  And that's just one company doing one very simple thing quite awhile ago.

But ya I could do without the cheerleading.

That's BS also.  All that styrofoam that McD's "stopped" using was only stopped here in the US.  They shipped that shite over to other countries.  Case in point, when that whole business went down here in the States, I remember going to Israel and stopping at a McD's there.  What did my burger come packaged in?  You guessed it.  Styrofoam.  Don't fool yourself into believing these companies are doing this kind of stuff for humankind, if it works out for THEM and still makes THEM money, then they will consider it.  For the majority of corporations, it is NEVER EVER about being "Green" or "Environmentally Friendly" or "Consumer Driven".  It is ALWAYS about profit.  Money, money, money.

If a corporation says they are green, people will be duped into buying their stuff believing they are helping the planet.  Most people don't even do any research on the products they buy or are planning to buy.

Example: Google, Bing, whatever Energy Star Scam or Energy Star Fraud.  Read.  Decide.

You're reading way too much into my post.  All I'm saying is "Less sandwiches boxed in styrofoam equals less styrofoam in the landfills," and as far as I'm concerned that's an upside.

For that matter here's another upside:  The less power you use and the less gas you burn translates to giving less money to the providers.

If governments and business are not prepared to change their ways nothing will happen.

Don't worry about something which you have no effect on. Go out and hug a friend, sit down and have a coffee, enjoy.

But it isn't less styrofoam.  The styrofoam is just shipped elsewhere.  So there's still styrofoam AND now there is paper taking place of the styrofoam that was moved.  How is that better?  Still a shortsighted solution imo.

This planet.  The seasons are shifting.  There has been climate changes before, there will be some again.  Adapt.

Are silicon based lifeforms on distant worlds griping on about the Silicon Footprint? BTW Carbon Footprint would make a great name for a wall.

Well I'm thinking that whomever/whatever/however the styrofoam is being used now, that amount would have likely been used anyway.  Plus you would have had the extra amount used by what has now been replaced by paper.  So in other words, if a ton a year is used now, and a ton a year has been replaced by paper, you would instead have two tons being used now more or less.  Ya I'm completely making up those numbers, but that's the jist of how I see it.  I'm sure it's not 100% absolute.

One thing I am sure of though - If I get some of that stuff and throw it away, it just sits in the landfill for entirely too long.  I hate that stuff, especially since it's frequently just used once for an extremely short time and then sits for eternity.

The bottom line is this...for me anyway. The climate is indeed changing...I don't need some rocket scientist to tell me that...I can see that with my own 2 eyes. In the area I live in we "used" to have 4 distinct changes in seasons...now we have 2. There was a time when the snow here was so high you used to have to crawl out a window to shovel out the front door...now we get very little snow if any. The weather is so screwed up the trees don't even know when to drop their leaves half the time. And sure...we can adapt...it's not like we have a choice...but we need to do more than adapt. Adapting for some people may mean getting a boat to live in...moving to higher ground...which hopefully for them is high enough. You can't judge the climate simply by where you live...everywhere is effected by all changes.

Our climate...whether you agree or not...is definitely changing...and not for the best. All the icy areas of the planet that were home to our coldest climates are melting faster than ever before...which in turn mean rising ocean levels and more than likely a change in our ocean currents as well which will have a bad effect on our weather. And this is just from what "I" see...I'm sure there are others out there that see other changes. Not to mention all the oil spilling in to the ocean right now! That alone could be enough to screw us all by killing off the bottom of the food chain...and once that's done then the natural course is to rise up the food chain...to us.

So whether it's styrofoam cups or any other garbage we keep piling onto the planet...we'll soon be living on top of it..if you aren't already! Because in the end...people just don't give a shit enough to do anything about. Instead we'll make some cutesy documentary about something happening to the planet as though it's not going to effect us...I mean really...that's happening over there!...not where I am! Besides...my favorite "reality" show or some other brain killing program is coming on now!..I can't be bothered with the planet!

The best example of the apathy towards the climate on this planet is the current oil spill. Why are people not more concerned with what's going on there? Water! Helloooo! We need it to live! To survive! Once that is no longer usable or sustaining ocean life we're pretty screwed.

So don't listen the idiots on tv telling you the climate is changing...open your eyes and pay attention! Ask the polar bears who's habitat is disappearing under their feet.! Stop relying on some government agency or a group of scientists to tell you what can see for yourself. For once in your life use that thing on your shoulders for something more than a hat rack. And if "we"...not governments...don't accept the fact that"we" need to make some easy decisions and hard life changes in order to save our future on this planet...it's game over.

It's really hard to take the global warming hype seriously when the leading proponent of global warming propaganda just bought a multi-million dollar house on the water....guess he is not too concerned about the rising ocean levels. It's his 4th house...can't wait for someone to tally up the carbon footprint on this one.

An inconvenient fact, indeed. When the Maldives disappear, how will we explain that away? Oh, right... the sand shifted. Until the next ice age.

How can anyone be naive enough to believe that increasing CO2 in the atmosphere while decreasing the Rain Forests, polluting the oceans and land and a constantly increasing population not have consequences? How can anyone deny this is occurring?  Simple. It's inconvenient to acknowledge our individual and collective roles in this and change our ways.

OK, so if Einstein made an error in his checkbook he's wrong about Relativity oh yeah, and the A-bomb doesn't work? Whew! They sure had me fooled.

So he buys a house. If you had his money to invest, you'd do the same. Therefore he's wrong about Global Warming. Talk about a non sequitur. 

Actually? It's easier to cite that then actually having to change one's wasteful/polluting ways: The speck of dust in someone else's eye is so much larger than the mountain in our own.

FACT: the planet is warmer now than it has ever been, natas. do some research. please don't quote or link to some right-wing blog or something by beck, limbaugh, hannity, coulter, bachman, palin, or any other right-wing dumbass.

He's just a politician, none of which can be trusted.  However, what he is promoting is real science, nothing to do with politics, which is something many need to realize.

So you were around when the planet was formed then and you have absolute proof that this is the warmest the planet has EVER been.  Is that what you are saying?

Funny how if someone doesn't "go along" with the mainstream ideas that are being shoved down our throats, they are a "right-wing dumbass".  I'm not saying nothing is wrong and that things aren't different than before.  All I'm saying is that the whole Global Warming concept is BS.  Scare tactics that probably all boil down to profit for somebody, somewhere.

Give it up people. The way things are going, anything we argue about will only polarize us further ... and that will serve the basic aim: To keep us squabbling, bickering and divided while they make trillions and the planet is being destroyed.

The fact is that the climate has changed. It's changed before in history and will change again. This is natural. Mankind has contributed to this process. That can't be denied. The amount of pollution that man has spewed into the atmosphere is gigantic. Who can deny that? The Rain Forests being depleted, the polar tips shrinking well these are facts. Why deny those things? What purpose does that serve?

The right has a history of denying obvious facts. The oil reserves are depleted. Oh no they say oil is renewable. Is it? Most experts on the subject say we are past the peak in oil reserves and the rate of consumption is such that we'll be out in just a couple of decades. The right denies this. There's our next series of wars just waiting to be fought.

Amen Amen Amen. Unless the basic nature of mankind changes life as we know it will be a thing of the past. What's so hard to understand about that?
