IconDeveloper: Turn PNG directly into icons from Explroer

http://www.objectdesktop.com

If you have Object Desktop you can download tonight's new build of IconDeveloper.

IconDeveloper is a program that makes it incredibly easy to create Windows icons.

Tonight's build let's you literally right click on a .PNG file (like all those PNGs in the ObjectDock section on the left) and choose to turn them directly into Windows icons (with full Windows XP support).

If you don't have Object Desktop you can purchase it at: https://www.stardock.com/order.asp

See the screenshot attached to see what we mean.

I used it tonight to update some of Ed Deans icons. He only made 32x32 (and below) versions of most of his icons. With the smart scaling stuff, I can make decent large versions of them. There's a ton of different scaling options.

Thats very nice about those scaling options. Especially if theres many algorithms to choose from

greg echo.. check the box for "show pre-release versions of software".. its still a beta i think, so it doesnt show up in the regular list. also be sure to click on "more" at the bottom of the list to show ALL programs available.

this thing is sweet..! the first thing i tried to do was make an icon port of jairo's whitemate png's.. in a few clicks i was able to port out a transparent icon. unfortionately, the immediate icon result wasn't any better then the ones i tried to make earlier from a trial version of another icon program there are just certain details, like the fine edges, in his graphics that are lost when put into icon. however - since the process using this new program was INSTANTANIOUS, i hope someone will take the time to use it to refine whitemate for use in iconpackager

way to go crew.. a great program. it will continue to be available from stardock, ya? any decent icon program out there now is 20-50$

There should be a refined version - not breaking your icons images in explorer in a day or two.

Marten Langbraten - try switching (Alt+Tab) to another program then (Alt+Tab) back. if there was a modal dialog that popped down below the main window it should show up when you switch back.

mverzella - you chould try some fine tuning by selecting/experimenting with dithering and resampling options while creating subimages. I'm sure you can create a perfect XP icon with the recent release. However if you're on another OS (not Windows XP) none of those XP icons will ever look perfect for you.

Last but not least it's not only for XP, however there may still be some problems when you try to recolor an IconPackage theme with lots of icons in it.
