Animated desktop wallpapers are absolutely new product that isn’t widespread yet . But this animated desktop wallpapers are worth telling about.
Just look at a static picture which is at the desktop of your computer. Certainly you change it some times in a week, but there is no pleasure in it. And suddenly you see that the picture "has come to life": you look not at simple photo of the beautiful heavenly spot but at the animate nature.
Try to imagine that the monitor of your computer is a window pane where icons are scattered. You look through it and see behind the window a wonderful alive world that is filled with movement. Besides you not only see this world, but also hear it. The worlds of animated desktop wallpapers will fill your life with sounds of wildlife which you rarely hear in the big city.
Animated desktop wallpapers are called first of all to make the world of your computer more beautiful and cosy that you could have a rest during the working day.
Moreover, the technology of creation of animated desktop wallpapers allows to make them not only very beautiful. Animated desktop wallpapers hold many perspectives of creation of the worlds where users can take part in.
Company "Elefun Multimedia" ( http://elefun.e-not.net ) has already made first steps in this direction. Practically in all animated desktop wallpapers which were made by this company the element of interactivity is present. In other words, some characters of these worlds react to your certain actions. So in the animated desktop wallpapers "Mystery Forest" if you guide the cursor of the mouse on the butterfly sitting on a sheet she'll fly up. And in the other product of company "Elefun Multimedia" if you put the cursor on the dog, she'll start to wag a tail and if you click, she'll stand up and will leave.
Besides in the worlds of animated desktop wallpapers there is time, and it doesn't differ from your local time. There the dawn replaces night and the day give way to the sunset as well as behind the window of your office or house.
It is possible to tell about the magic and fantastic worlds of animated desktop wallpapers for a long time, but it is worth to visit the site of "Elefun Multimedia" ( http://elefun.e-not.net/desktops/animated_wallpapers.php ) and to download animated desktop wallpapers. Only in such a way you can decide whether they like you or not.

$17.00 per wallpaper sounds a bit expensive to me.........
I couldn't find any info on resources usage. And what's this minimum requirement of Pentium 1000?

Desktop X can give you an animated wallpaper too.

Every animated wallpaper system i have ever used has been hell on system resources, and were soon discarded. They were all free, as well.

Well, to be hounest. I'm not impressed by the looks of it...

I agree. Why pay $17 for one animated wallpaper.

DesktopX - $19.95 - https://store.stardock.com/addproduct.asp?PRODUCT_ID=ESD-SDS-W078

Animated desktops and functionality increases.

This is something that would be fairly straightforward to do with Desktop X. Look at the aquarium theme for one. And that doesn't stop when you aren't focused on the desktop.

It's a bit like Microsoft advertising what cool things you can do on a Mac..

I agree with Boxxi...would rather stick with DX because of its incredible customization features - it also shows WHY OD is such an AWESOME value!

Very hard to find info on this site too. Who is this company, where are they located, how long have they been in business, what technology is powering this animation. I think what that site doesn't say is more important than what it does.

I have to say DesktopX can do that. Although I like the idea, the only reason why I would even try it if it doesn't un too much ram and use up CPU time.

Funny though, even as we talk about DX being able to do this, there is hardly a theme out there that professes itself to be an animated wallpaper. I personally, have plans in the works but really can't do anything until I get a new system.

Anyway, sounds like a nice program but I would stick with DX. It provides more functionality, intergration, and options.

I believe this is just a full screen flash inside of active desktop. Not really impressive.

I agree about the English. I suggest putting some of those $17s to good use in hiring a decent translator. Most of the site reads like it's been put through BabelFish.

As for the wallpapers, it's really not a new idea, and software has existed for quite a while to show screensavers as desktop wallpaper.

I don't really understand what the big deal is about wallpaper. Do you often sit just staring at your monitor all day and need different looks? I change mine every once in awhile for a change of pace or to go with a new theme, but I really don't see the point in animating it.
Its mostly covered if I'm using the computer, and if I'm not using it, then the monitor is off.
I also wondered why we have an "advertisement" on the front page of Wincustomize. I sincerely doubt this is a partner of Stardock. This info belonged in the message board, not the front page, IMHO.

You gotta have poop for brains to spend $17 for wallpaper. I didn't even spend that much for real wallpaper for my bedroom. What a joke. >

I think it looks really nice and the sound is pretty cool too....but it is WELL overpriced!(Even with the whole pack for $17 it would be steep)
