how do i play diplomacy and entrenchment if i have trinity??

If your running Trinity, then your playing Diplomacy. Diplomacy=Trinity. Diplomacy has all the features of Entrechement and vanilla SINS. There an option in then menu to play Entrechment. Which is that exapnsion plus vanilla SINS only.

If your looking to use all the features from all the expansions then Diplomacy/Trinity is what you want.

ok but when i installed it it didnt create a shortcut to destop and when i went to create one only choices were sins of the solar empire, sose diplomacy and sose entrenchment dont see anything that says trinity

Diplomacy=Trinity. Trinity was the name given to the whole pack being sold together.

Diplomacy will all the features from both expansion packs and the normal game.

Entrenchment will have just features from the first expansion and normal game.

Sins of a Solar Empire was the normal game.

Choose the one you wanna play and enjoy.

SOASE Trinity is the complete SOASE Expierience. They call it Trinity because it was shorter than saying THE COMPLETE SOASE EXPIERIENCE.

SOASE=Sins of a Solar Empire

SOASE Entenchment is SOASE + the Entrenchment Expansion

SOASE Diplomacy is SOASE + Entrenchment + regular SOASE

If you bought Trinity, and want to play the entire game with both expansions, play Diplomacy.

If you're new, I'd say try out regular SOASE first to get a feel for things. Maybe do a couple games that way, then do a few with Entrenchment, and then Diplomacy. (Preferably beat 1-2 AIs on the hardest difficulty available for Each version)

Regular SOASE = Hard is the most difficult

Entrenchment = Unfair is the most difficult

Diplomacy = Vicious is the most difficult

Easy .5 resourse income compared to you

Normal- 1x resource income

Hard- 1.5x resource income

Unfair- 2x resource income + increased research rate and build speed from here onward, not sure of those numbers.

(One between Unfair and Vicious, don't remember what it's called)- 2.5x resource income

Vicious- 3x resource income

It really shouldn't matter. There are more "toys" to play with (so to speak) in the expansion packs than in the vanilla game, but it shouldn't affect learning curve that much. In any case, your biggest challenge will be your lack of experience with RTS games in general. With that in mind, I'd recommend diplomacy (ie, trinity) or perhaps entrenchment.

In general, we on the forums recommend beginners play with pirates off and teams locked. That way, enemies cannot make alliances against you and your allies cannot betray you, and you don't have to worry about pirates biting you in the butt.

If you need any help, feel free to drop by the "strategy" section of this forum and ask for help. I'm usually around to give advice, whatever your specific troubles may be.

There are three versions of the game you can play:

Sins of a Solar Empire (vanilla)
Entrenchment
Diplomacy

Each version includes all of the content from the previous version(s), meaning you can't play Diplomacy without starbases (but why would you want to?).

Trinity is the name of the compilation of all three. It's like saying "Sins of a Solar Empire: Complete", only way cooler. Trinity is completely compatible with the non-Trinity copies of the game, so you can play multiplayer with someone that only has vanilla, and they don't have to worry about buying more just to play with you. You'll simply need to select the vanilla version in order to play with them.

Thanks for all the advice and details.

I figured out that pirates are bad and turned them off. I'm also playing against the easiest AI (1 only) with everything set to slow. So far I've only seen their scout ships and things are good in the universe!

lol I usually turn on pirates so I get free exp but I usually have them off so I don't get even more lag from them.
