DeskMod Temporarily Closes

Here's the text Mike posted at DeviantART:

Due to financial difficulties, DeskMod has closed it's doors for a temporary, but indefinite amount of time. Read on for more.

At midnight central daylight time, DeskMod closed its doors to the public due to financial strain. We will be re-opening in the future, but for the longevity of the site in general, as well as for our own well-being, David Gorman and myself have decided to halt site operation for the time being.

You can find all the details of the closing, as well as future updates at http://www.deskmod.com Please note that all hosted sites on DeskMod will remain operational, as well as ModBlog.

We would like to thank the community for all their love and support, and can't wait to see you back when we re-open!'

Mike tried to post the news, but was having technical difficulties.

I'm sad. DeskMod was the only other site I regularly checked on besides this one.

At least we have hope that the site will return. Good luck iMike & gorman!

Let this be a lesson to those who complain about subscriptions and download limits. It costs money to run even a bad site and Deskmod was a very good site. I hope they can find the funding.

I agree with jcg . . . we all wish things would be free but the fact is they aren't. Instead of complaining, we should be thankful that we have the opportunity to take part in so much for a small fee!

Exactly jcg. I wouldn't mind if Deskmod came up with a way of generating some moneuy to at least support itself. I sit and wonder about ModBlog all the time and say, "How are they paying for this?"

Yesterday, I noticed that it was hard to post stuff there. I guess this is why.

Really bad news....I found Wincustomize through DeskMod looking for wallpapers - they had a ton of links to all sorts of terrific sites!
