ObjectDock 0.95 & Video Demo!

http://www.objectdock.com
There's a new version of ObjectDock available. ObjectDock is a freeware program that combines a task manager and program launcher but does it with style.

New features:
-Thanks to Jairo Boudewyn for the great looking ObjectDock icon now in use!
-Context (right click) Menus added, functional for both windows and files.
-Clicking and holding on programs that have running indicators under
them will show a menu of all the windows open for that program.
-"ICL" icon library reading support added
-System icon loading greatly improved, works great with IconPackager now.
-Graphic files dropped onto the dock (bmp, jpg, psd, etc) are now represented on the dock by the image they contain rather than a generic icon.
-Speed improved, found a couple unneccessary slowdowns and eliminated them.
-autohide bug, would not re-show if window was maximized and on top/left/right side of the screen
-Various glitches and small issues fixed up.
-Background glitch when dock is semi-transparent, has no taskbar, and is aligned right/left along the top or bottom.
-Recycle bin should now detect and report activity on recycle bins on *all* drives, not just the c:\ drive.

Just tried to download it via Stardock Central but its not there yet. Will try later. By the way has the problem with the skinny or spindley clock hands been resolved yet. Love this Dock and the programme seems to be coming on nicely and is starting to catch up Y'Z dock which still leads but ObjectDock is catching up.........Go ObjectDock and huge amounts of respect for the author who is doing a great job........Thank You

BTW.......What is the recommendation from the author..........do we uninstall the previous version and then install the new or do we install the new over the top of the old???

Given what's happened to the superior YzDock I eagerly anticipate Apple's response to this release.

Great performance improvements on my 1.3ghz P4, nVidia geforce 64mb.

I didn't quite understand the programming that Jiri Krivinek did with the menus so I was sort of waiting for them to be added by Stardock on the next OD release . . . I don't see them with this update . . . are there any plans to include some of Jiri's ideas in any upcoming editions of OD? Forgive me if they are in this release and I just missed them.

The menus in this release are contextual (Right Click), Kkmenu is for shortcuts!

id like to see some sort of feature that locks the icons. because sometimes if my comp is laggy, ie. burning a cd, for some reason when i click on it and i drag my mouse away, it will read it as i am draggin the icon off, therefore deleting it. just a minor inconvenience in an otherwise excellent proggy

Thanks for the update! Any chance there will be plug-ins in the near future for items like mailchecker or weather?

Dokt: does yz show your running tasks yet? if not, how can you call it 'superior'?

Although I've stopped using docks for the time being, I would call (IMO) Yz Dock better becuse of the Docklets. ObjectDock runs much smoother, but I like the idea of Docklets.

Frogboy,

YZ's is no longer in development after receiving a warning from Apple.

For me, docklets are nice (ObjectDock has them too but the spec is unpublished, that's how we do the trashcan and clock) but lacking the taskbar is a big deal to me.

Only bad thing is when I am playing a game and my mouse hovers where objectdock is the game REALLy starts to lag and I am running with the fastest settings for the dock.

Comp is on AMD XP 2100+ with gforce 2 mx 400 and 512 megs of ram.

They should have the dock disabled when a full screen program ( game ) is running.

Still awaiting the multiple dock feature..but this build looks like one or two builds away from it...animation and effects are MUCH improved on my system, and it fades text now...still get that curious rough-font thing on the first dock object (my computer), like it's not antialiasing the edges...the memory useage is MUCH improved also. A good step. Keep em coming boys. Nice Job.

Is anybody else having a problem seeing the icons other than the Crystallized set and the icons that were in your current theme? I would recommend uninstalling the old version before installing .95, my XP system wasn't recognizing the new version until I did so.

Guys! I read somebody was complaining about lock dragging, this dock has that feature, just right click in an empty area on the dock(Background) a contextual menu shows up with that option and some other handy options!!!!!!!!

After having used ObjectDock for a while, I switched to Yz Dock a month or so ago. The main reason for doing this was for the plugins. I am currently running the Clock, iCal, Weather, CPUMonitor, RecycleBin, and WinShutdown plugins. I also like the fact that Yz Dock doesn't require a separate Configure icon (you just right click on the bar).

I personally don't gain any value in having my tasks available in ObjectDock. The extra icons take up too much room so I would disable that feature if I were running ObjectDock. Also, I'm still running the Windows taskbar (and if I weren't, I would use ObjectBar for that funtionality).

If ObjectDock would add these features (or at least in the case of the plugins, publish the specs so someone could develop these plugins), I would gladly switch back to ObjectDock. As for now, even though Yz Dock has ceased development, I'm going to continue to run it.

Has anyone been able to download it today? I have tried all morning with no success and sdcentrel still says .90 is the latest.

If it's not shown in sdcentral, visit ObjectDock's page, www.objectdock.com to download it, it's been up since this message was put up, methinks..

Anyways, hope everyone who downloads it loves the new version, the speed and stability have been increased dramatically!
