WindowBlinds 3.5A Expiration

There may be a problem with certain builds of WindowBlinds 3.5A expiring. We will have a new build of WB 3.5 available on Monday for those affected. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Thank goodness for that. I've been uninstalling & re-installing to try & resolve the problem, finally re-installed the previous version to rectify....thought I might have some type of system conflict or virus. Thanks for the post, guys, I can sleep peacefully now, .

Well, Monday will be in 12 hours here ...
So i think the Stardock team will do the correction just after coming back from mass and before having an aperitif, just to be sure it will be avaible for everyone on monday 00:01 am everywhere

But why did they included this expiration in the programm? There must be a reason for this...if not, it would be totally senseless...

Vulture: I think some beta builds had expiration dates set to encourage installing of oficial builds. My guess is it was just overlooked when the final was released.

Ha, When I started up my computer it didn't load any skins whatsoever .I reinstalled WB ( after an unistall ) , yes even downloaded it again, but still nothing . I thought I was the victim of some virus , but this explains everything. For compensation we deserve one free skin of a skin-suite which you'd have to pay for normally I think

There's not supposed to be an expiration in the released builds. What I suspect happened is that a beta build got promoted to release without anyone remembering it had an expiration date.

I have version 3.5 and It stop working seven days after I purchased it. It will only change the color of my windows 98 default skin. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times. I downloaded it again and reinstalled, still nothing but a $20.00 color changer. Please help me.

Thanks

Mark

The same here on my Win2000 office machine. Since today, it's only a color changer. What's more strange is that the display settings dialog windows shows nothing and when I close it , it crashes.

Hi,
First: 20 US$ for a "beta realised" version is too much.
Second: OK! how you will make the upgraded WB3.5 for registered users available?.
Third: An apologize is the Minimum Minimorum. How about a special WB4 fo W98 realised(without expiration time)?

Mine went down and it is now Monday and n sign yet in te Component Manager of the fixed version...why repair Ver 3.5 instead of releasing version 4 for platforms other than XP which not all of us have. How are we t know when the fixed up ver 3.5 is ready...will you place in th Componenet Manager ..or where..?

Behr : You should consider the time difference...

It's only 7AM in the US where Stardock is. They have to wake up and get into work first.

It should be in both the Component Manager and Stardock Central sometime later today.

The WB4-instead argument wouldn't work ... unless they already have it ready to go. The expiry removal will be a quick and easy fix (or should be), where as the WB4 upwork is not nearly so.

So ill be waiting in anticip for the 3.5 fix for now until the WB4 bit. Do need SOMEthing to tide us over.

All those in favor of Stardock providing free upgrades to Windowblinds 4.0 for registered WindowBlinds users to compensate for the hassle and time we all spent trying to fix the damn thing before finally seeing the "expiration notice" vote yes. Fat chance eh!

Get real ppl !
Free upgrades to WB4 for those of us using Win2000 is ridiculous. Besides that will be MONTHS from now. I want my skins back sooner rather than later.

I'm just hoping the "fix" will be available on OD because SDC isn't available for me. Someone up at the corporate firewall blocked the domain stardock.com and I can't get anything except news.stardock.com which I believe is coming on a different port. So If OD ever goes away - I will too I fear.

I'm thinking that this whole "timeout" bug was a ploy to find out how many non WinXP users are out there and are passionate about WB. It is like a drug and I need my skinning fix.

Thanks all!

Two days without WB? Big deal...what a bunch of whining babies. I'm glad they found the problem and are fixing it. Meanwhile, I'm just using WB4. Glad to see you're on top of it Stardock.
