ObjectDock 0.90 released

http://www.objectdock.com
ObjectDock is a combination program launcher and task manager that is presented as a dock that can be placed on any edge on the screen. When the mouse is placed over an item, it magnifies itself. Users can replace the images used for tasks and programs and submit packaged themes to websites such as WinCustomize.com.

New in version 0.90:

-Ability to have outward borders on backgrounds added, to allow for simulation of a shadow on the outside of backgrounds. See"Default with Shadow" included background for an example.

-Fixed several minor background display glitches.

-Fixed up packaging, full-theme packups will now package current background properly.

-Dock can now be attached to any edge or corner of the screen - see updated config dialog!

-Running indicators are now optional, as is the behavior to only re-run an already running program by double clicking on it. (Indicators Enabled and set to single-click-to-rerun by default in this new release)

-Improved icon loading, now can load high-resolution icons associated with files/folders/etc dropped into dock. Works for all of the above, including extensions (e.g. retrieving the high resolution icon for ".txt" files when text file is dropped onto dock) as well as for system objects (e.g. My Computer, etc)

-The current windows icons can now be used (and now are by default) for the recycle bin, as well as "Configure ObjectDock" items. Especially useful for if you are using high-resolution icons on your desktop.

-Several improvments in speed and memory usage

I saw other dock with this features before, about one or two days ago, so this looks like a copy. Please don't take me bad, I don't want to start a war here. Just a note...

As much as I wish we had the ability to magically put in significant features like shadows and any corner edges in 24 hours, I'm afraid we lack that particular ability.

That would be like an ObjectDock user complaining that y'Z dock is a copy off of ObjectDock since ObjectDock existed first.

Good work fellas. I eagerly anticipate the arrival of an ObjectDock that can wrap around corners, have multiple dock bars, and which can support the same animation tricks that CursorXP can.

I imagine you guys are hard at work on that too.

The single click works again.

I love it. It's really cool.

Can you take something wonderful and improve it? For example, I still prefer the Taskbar because it is more usable. If I have say 4 browsers openned, I can see which task button is viewing which site because it shows the title. In Objectdock, I only see 4 icons and don't know which is which until I click on it (no fault of this great program of course).

ZiUL: ObjectDock internal builds have had these features for quite some time now... perhaps the copying was done the other way around........

Hey Jeff, the program is coming along great. Just wondering if you have any plans to add multi monitor support? Being able to choose which monitor to have the dock on would be a huge plus for me, and I imagine anyone running a dual display setup.

Cheers,

AJC

hey, Big Doug

One of your wishes is already true. Make a copy of your objectdock folder. you can launch each exe and have 2 docks. At one time I had my 'taskbar dock' on the bottom of the screen and my 'launcher dock' on the side.

PS - I hope this still works, I did it in version .7 or something.

Slightly off-topic, but that was the fastest download I ever saw anywhere: 1.05MB/s. That bandwidth upgrade is obviously paying off

Ouaouh, really nice program, better than the last. But I have two questions :
- How can we set the start directory of an application launched by the dock ?
- How can we make a start menu button ?

Good works, keep on working !

Version 0.90 still freeze sometime requiring 100% cpu. I have
to shut down OD an restart it. This makes OD unusable on my
laptop in battery mode.
Anyway thank you for this nice program!

ZiUL - their ALL copies of MacOSX... that's what it's meant to copy.

saying that adding a shadow and screen docking is copying, is like saying buttering your toast is copying... come on... it's been around for many, many years.

the whole idea is amazing though... it emulates macOSX almost perfectly, the zooming and scrolling and everything is beautiful!

KenLin, it didnt work.

No problem. Frog and the guys probably have the multiple dock feature in the works, once they get the program running with as little resource draw as possible.

I can wait for it.
