newbie help astroid getting elements help

I am doing ok I think, however, next to my planet is a astroid, i cleared it out, but how do i put my extractors on them, my home planted is all upgraded, no more to do, It will not even let me send my construction friget there? whats up? also hoe do I get more staff for more battle ships my home plant is upgraded all the way.

Construction frigates do not travel between planets. They automatically spawn at any planets you have colonized (at least once you give them orders to build something). Just click on the asteroid and build a constructor and one should appear to build them. Ships are obviously build at frigate/capitalship factories, but there is a fleet supply cap that can be expanded with research (which means you have to have some research labs built). Also, I don't mean to be mean, but did you do the tutorials?

Did you colonize the asteroid? You need to send either a colony frigate or a mothership capital ship to it to colonize it. Then be sure to upgrade the planet population so that it does not cost you income. You can then click on the individual extractor mini-roids to get a build option or click on the Logistics icon for a build option.

Yes I did the tutorials, But I think I have to start over, I do have a big ship I made not sure what one (I will check), but I do not think it can colonize, I did bring it there (astriod) but it will not let me colonize, I can not make another big ship at this time, I do not have any crew avaiable, how do I do that? I turned off pritaes so I have time, the plnaet next to me has a fleet in it, I have not attacked that yet, mabey I will tonight, but without anyone attacking I am trying to learn the game,

Every faction has two ships that can can colonize, a capital ship and a frigate. A lot of people get the colonizer capital ship as their first cap so that they can expand quickly, but it is not required. If you do get a capitalship that can colonize, make sure you use its first ability point to get the colonize ability otherwise it still won't be able to colonize until it levels up. The colonizer frigate (it is one of the first three frigates you can build at the start) has the ability no matter what, but it is weak and completely useless in combat, unlike the capital ships, so only send them in after you've destroyed all enemy ships in a gravity well.
