WinCustomize Accounts: READ THIS

To provide additional benefits for users of Object Desktop and other Stardock products, we have set the site up to allow you to easily connect your WinCustomize account to your Stardock customer account. Connecting your account will provide you with (currently) unlimited downloads. In the future, we hope to be able to provide Stardock customers with additional benefits.

There is no current cap on # of downloads for users who have purchased Object Desktop or WindowBlinds or any other Stardock product. If you want to subscribe to WinCustomize to get access to the WinCustomize browser, the upcoming premium skin suites, text ads, and more, by all means do so but you don't have to subscribe to download skins.

Hope that clears things up.

"Hey, I was wondering, if I get the Wincustomize browser, do I have to also have other Stardock products to be able to use the skins?", my friend Shelia is asking. I actually don't know myself (but it didn't matter to me because I already have Object Desktop)

My question would be that are the shirts and caps Stardock products??? Anything in the store part of the site?? And don't for get about making comments to skinners work, helping on the message board (or just interacting) and possibly submitting news.

What about those things??

Joe, it depends on the apps. The SkinBrowser doesn't give you access to the apps. Your friend could use the shareware versions of the apps but I don't know how that works (whether they're just limited in functionality or if they time out after 30 days or so).

So if your friend has a limited budget and has to choose between the browser or say, WindowBlinds, I'd go with WindowBlinds as purchasing WindowBlinds should remove any download cap. Plus she could later upgrade to Object Desktop and I think the previous purchase of WB reduces the price of OD.

It also may depend on who make the product too. I think the only other shareware products here besides Stardock's is WinStep (NextStart and WorkShelf). Purchasing that doesn't give you the same benefits as purchasing Stardocks software. (Though purhasing WinStep would certainly make Jorge happy )

I think the purchase of Stardock shirts and caps also count toward supporting the site.

Of course, the cheapest way to support this site is to be like the rest of us with no life and particpate in the boards and stuff

Yes, purchasing any Stardock Product or WinCustomize product will indeed work towards changing your UserLevel to a 3, removing any download caps that are in place.

joetheblow - What about those things??

as i understand it if you are active on the site, then you are likely to get promoted to apprentice. once you have reached apprentice or above you arent so effected by the cap. the origional plan was there would be no cap for apprentice and above users.
