WinCustomize Subscriptions open, SkinBrowser Beta comes with it!

https://store.stardock.com/addproduct.asp?PRODUCT_ID=ESD-SDS-W052
The WinCustomize skin browser is now available in beta (though it only works on Win2K/XP right now). It comes as part of your WinCustomize 1-year subscription which for a limited time is only $19.95 for the ENTIRE year (that's less than $2 per month!)

Your WinCustomize subscription won't only provide that. During the course of this year you'll receive premium skin suites, exclusive WinCustomize features, unlimited downloads, and more. Plus, you help support a site that has virtually no advertisements, no pop ups, and is very fast and clean. Our hope is that subscribers will be able to make WinCustomize self-sufficient.

To become a subscriber, here is the link:

Please try to use the email address you used on WinCustomize so that the subscriber email addresses can be cross referenced (not required though).

The Skin Browser even in beta is pretty darn cool. It can apply skins DIRECTLY from the site. Heck, just for changing wallpapers it's really cool let alone changing Windows Media Player, WinAmp, DesktopX, WindowBlinds, etc.

Is the a opytion of displaying the $19.95 feee in yiur local currency, if you''re not in the US- like Australia (the dollar is stringer now).
In Australia a good guess is double the USD. In NZ were I am from at good estimate is 2.5 times. Not real need for local currency figures. I would have it by now but I am awaiting a new Credit Card.

I''ve asked this question before and was advised that I still need Window Blinds. The statement above that the Skin Browser " can apply skins DIRECTLY from the site" still puzzles me.
(1) Does the Skin Browser apply a Window Blinds skin DIRECLY into Window Blinds for it to be applied, or;
(2) does Skin Browser download DIRECTLY to the computer and alter the current skin.

The screenshots that ;ockergnome explain alot, maybe a link to some screenshots would assist people in making a decision as to how the browser is going to work

If your family has, let''s say.. a skinner and an enthusiast, both seperate users with seperate accounts (but living in the same house and using the same billing info) at Wincusto, is there any way to share a subscription?

you can find out how much $19.95 USD is in your own currency through Yahoo: http://finance.yahoo.com/m3?u

When I looked it up (which changes all the time) it is $36.37 Australian dollars.

plainsong, I don''t know if you can share an account, per se, but the SkinBrowser will probably be able to be shared, since it is software. That would really have to be answered by a site admin/one of the developers, though.

It tells me that "You are not connected to the internet", but I have a direct connection. Component Manager works ok for me? Any ideas why this doesn''t?
Not sure, drop me a note with your config (i.e. are you behind a firewall or router or anything like that?). I''m running it from behind a firewall without a problem but since I haven''t heard of this problem I don''t want to leave anything out.

If you get a "You are not connected to the internet" when running the browser inside a firewall, bring up WinStyles and check the proxy server box inside internet settings.

I purchased and downloaded today. Nice app. Time saving and very friendly. Thanks all!

I purchase and downloaded today also. At first I also could not connect and got the message "You are not connected to the internet" but it was because I didn''t give the program enough rights in my firewall setup. Now is working great.

i just wanted to say another excellent time saving product. Glad I signed up.

Now give me more free stuff, dammit.

Why do I have the feeling we''re going to be very busy around here!

I posted a comment earlier in the week to this thread, omly to find it has been deleted? What is that all about?

Risky, you didn''t post to this thread, you posted to one on the message boards. And what it''s all about? Well a few people responded to you over there. In a nutshell, you don''t understand the concept behind subscribing to Wincustomize. You seem to think that you are paying for SkinBrowser. SkinBrowser is a benefit of subscribing to WinCustomize. Read more. You will be enlightened.

Sorry sos, you are sadly mistaken. I happen to know where and when I post. I am fully aware of the contributions I make to the message boards. Appreciate your timely response though.
Keep up the good, however erroneous, work! My comment addressed the cost of "subscription" attributed to those who have already purchased Stardock software, and the creative skinners who provide their work for free. Seems that the idea of being a "captive audience" brings $$$$ to mind for some folks, huh?

Do you have any idea how much a dedicated 20megabit per second connection + IT costs is per month? How can someone argue that purchasing a $20 shareware program or $50 for ODNT somehow covers the cost of this site? Most companies do not have their own library. Heck, even Nullsoft (AOL) is using Deskmod for hosting its WinAmp 3 skins. WinCustomize has to be looked at as a seperate cost item. Otherwise we''d have to increase the prices on our software and that would be unfair to those who aren''t necessarily heavy users of skins and themes.

fact o the matter is all these skins used to be at stardock, and after you purchased the software, you could download the skins and use them. I think folks who do not purchase odnt should pay. I want skins for ODNT!! They used to be at stardock. there was no mention of having to subscribe to something else. I don''t want to pay for bandwidth for winamp, and nextstep, and beatnik, and on and on and on. If I want to use these products, you know what, I can go to THIER site and download the skins for free, oh but not here. There used to be a skin browser here. it was free.

We are being bamboozled plain and simple!

Stardock customers get unlimited downloads anyway. Subscribers get extra features lke the skin browser, unlimited downloads (Even if they''re not an ODNT owner), premium suites, etc.

You''re quick to croak Froggy. Could you please clarify what a "Stardock Customer" is?

Is it just a Windowblinds purchaser, or full blown ODNT??

Nice to know that as a subscriber to ODNT I get unlimited downloads!

Uh...how do I make my subscriber status a part of my profile?
I guess thats the answer located in an earlier post.

No ODNT
