Any more maps with a central choke point?

Not sure where this post would go so please direct me to the right area and I'll scoot right over there

So I bought Sins a week ago on the recomendation on a friend, and man was I pleased. I love every part of the game! I jumped right in and went for the largest possible map (Huge-random was the selection) and spent the entire day learning ships, bombarding planets and in the end getting creamedby my so called "teamates" no less! I guess they didn't like me no more :P . Well after that little fiasco I decided on a map that was a bit smaller and found "Razor's Edge", a 3v3 medium sized map with a more-or-less central choke point. I really enjoyed that match because of the choke point (forced my AI buddies not to go run off and get themselves blown up!) and the battles it lead to over the central planets.

So my question is; Is there any similar map out there? I know you can create your own (I think right?) and download other folks maps, so if there is a website that contains a bunch of player made maps I'm sure I can find a few to download.

Thanks in advance for helpin a noobie Advent commander :D

for expanded information check https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com

not sure about the maps, except some might indicate in the description what the layout is.  ive had the game for...a long time...idk how long, and i still havent been through all the maps.

there are two ways to build custom maps.  the in-game builder plus another called galaxy forge (i think).  check the link above for all the details, custom mods, maps, etc.

End of quote

You prolly hit upon the best chokehold map, altho "Razor's Edge" is very small (only 3 planets per player).

"Fulcrum" is also a 3v3 with two central choke points.  A bit bigger.  But can also sneak thru the pirate base.

"Entanglement" is a fun unique map (of 'rings') with lots of potential choke points.

"Backstab" & "Foreign Invasion" are also 3v3s with some good chokes.

"Grindstone" is a tight 4v4 with a couple potential chokes.

"Gateway" in unique with a single choke (gateway) to another large empty system.

A couple of the new maps in Diplomacy are linear and have great chokes.

To get a quick preview of a map, just start the game/map, and hit surrrender, then keep playing and you can instantly see the entire layout.

foreign invasion, and entanglement both have rather good choke points. the new map (diplomacy only) secretes, has a rediculous choke point.

open up a few maps in galaxy forge, and you can check them out yourself...  there are also quite a few custom maps... but they *tend* to not have choke points... also... check out the distant stars mod. lots of maps in there, (but DS only)... and ofcourse you can use galaxy forge to make your own maps.

You can turn on locked teams if you don't want your allies to betray you.  The "unlocked teams" setting is generally only used for free for all comp stomps.

As for maps, there are lots of creations by community members out there.  I myself maintain a compilation that draws from the works of many authors: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/365777

You'll need the most recent version of the game to use these maps.  Some of them have harder choke points than others, but they're interesting additions and generally more on par with the size of the "random" maps rather than the premades.

Yeah, there's a self-installer available so you don't have to find the correct folders (manual install with just a zip filled with files is also available for those who prefer it).
