Building Annoyance

I have noticed that if you select a structure to place, you must place it or switch the structure in question... But either way, something is getting built even if you decide not to before even placing the structure. Is there any way to deselect or cancel before making the final click to place it? Thanks!

Lol I always have though that if you have played any strategy game before, pressing esc would cancel current action....lol I remember the time when you press esc, you auto go to the game menu what an annoyance that was.

I just click on the nearest planet, and it complains that the building can't be built there and cancels the build order.  Works well if you're in a hurry.

you can press escape, select a fleet or ship, or tell it to build in another grav well or in the planet, that will stop it building

this has bothered me for so long! they need to add a right-click=cancel

Thanks a lot! I knew about attempting to place in other gravity wells and such, but I thought that was so dumb just to cancel building. I've gotten used to the right-click cancel.
