Not enough variety in effective builds

There are a lot of favor items and tons of regular items... most of them, I have no clue what they do off.

I'm not sure, but it seems that early game, items/abilites do such nuke damage, that is unmitigated, you must go for HP early on.  Everytime I look at a "attack speed build", to take advantage of items that will stack, I realize that it won't help me against abilities.

 

I'd like to see more options, to give the game more flavor.  A lot of items/favor items are neat, but just lack any real usefulness when compared with the potent ones.
