http://www.objectdesktop.com

Stardock has released Object Desktop 2010 today!  Object Desktop is a suite of desktop enhancement programs designed to allow users to personalize the Windows experience to their liking. The programs of Object Desktop include features that enable users to completely change the look, feel, and function of Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Object Desktop 2010 represents the largest update to the suite since its initial launch in December 1999. The programs that make up Object Desktop 2010 include:

  • WindowBlinds 7.0 - customize the look and feel of the Windows GUI (title bars, task bar, etc.).
  • DeskScapes 3.0 - customize desktop backgrounds or apply new animated wallpapers.
  • Fences PRO 1.0 - organize desktop icons into groups and clean up desktop clutter.
  • Tweak - change the way Windows behaves by accessing little known system settings.
  • IconPackager - change virtually any icon on the system or change all your icons by applying a theme of packaged icons.
  • Theme Manager - control your customization programs from one easy to use interface.

Object Desktop 2010 also includes nearly a dozen other programs that are available through the included download manager, Impulse. Portions of Object Desktop are licensed by leading technology companies including Microsoft, Dell, HP, ATI and nVidia for everything from "skinned desktops" to customized user interfaces or desktop organization. Now, PC power users can get all of these features together in a single package.

Users who purchase Object Desktop also receive a one-year subscription to ObjectDesktop.net which provides users access to updates and new programs added to Object Desktop. Users who have previous versions of Object Desktop can renew their access to ObjectDesktop.net for $34.95. It requires Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.

For me one of the most impressive features is the speed with which WindowBlinds 7 changes skins. Awesome

Is there a working version of DesktopX 4 included? I'm still running 3.5 because 4.0 don't work. Actually, 3.5 don't work correctly on 7. So I hope 4.0 is fixed now.  :HOT:

Still in the works, as far as I am aware.. I'm hanging in there, too; DX is a lot of fun.

Stardock added some nice dreams, but the boat dream isn't part of it.

If your Object Desktop Subscription is current, and you have Impulse installed and updated, then you already have Object Desktop 2010.

LogonStudio is Win7 compatible.  Bootskin updates are on the way.

Partially. It does not load a DX theme or widget. It usually only loads a blind and a wall. No cursor, no Object Dock, etc. It seems to be randomly selective as to what loads. In my own experience, Theme Manager hasn't worked correctly on any OS other than XP, ever.

The above is true for suites. I don't know about applying MyColors themes. Philly's suites do not fully apply with theme manager. Seems I did apply the Harley Davidson MyColors theme with it. The gadgets don't load.

It seems to be a real crapshoot regarding just exactly what TM applies.Sometimes you get the WB,wall and IP,often the blind does not apply and has to be loaded by the WB interface. Reverting back to default Aero is also spotty and tends to "hang" for a long time. On occasion, this too has to be done with the WB interface or you get the classic taskbar. The dealbreaker for me is the inability to apply DX themes/widgets along with the other selected skins.

Gee I wonder.  :-"

Another thing...I noticed when testing for Philly that logons are downloaded if included in a suite file and installed, but they  do not apply. Here is more info.I just applied Aero Midnight with TM - the IP. The WB,wall and gadgets loaded.  When I tried to revert back to the default Aero theme,I got this....

After I clicked Close Program the Aero desktop was applied correctly.

TM has been far too problematic to use in the past. I just don't use it anymore but would really like to. All the individual programs work fine but Theme Manager is not handling them very well.

Apologies to ID for running off with the thread, this should be in the Support Forums.

RedneckDude, which theme did this happen with when you applied it?

All of them. I'm talking suites, not themes. Themes ( MyColors) seem to work, other than the gadgets don't load. Suites, which I believe is the default TM file, don't work very well.

If you're talking about the second picture above, that's not a dream, it's a static wallpaper that comes with Windows 7. It's one of the hidden ones for Canada that DeskScapes gives you access to.
