Anyone else would like to see one? I mean, I personally think that it could be done without too much trouble. And not like the boring galciv 2 campaigns where you simply get an objective at the beginning of the level and then play a normal game to complete it. An interactive, scripted campaign would be awesome for a future expansion of SINS.
For example, the first level as TEC could start with you (some random captain who nobody knows of... yet) attempting some last ditch effort to save an isolated terran colony which is under attack by the vasari. You'd only have basic structures, ships and research items available.
Ships: Arkova scout and cobalt light frigates, you also have 4 Javelis LRM's which you cannot replace and you start with one capital ship of your chice which will be your flagship and will be more powerful than any normal capital ship (also, you are on it and if it is destroyed you will lose)
Structures: frigate factory, metal and crystal extractors, gauss turrets, repair bay (once researched) and military/civics labs (you cannot fully develop your planet at this point Max logistical: 12 Max tactical: 8)
Research: Civic: Deep core metal mining, high density zoning, modular architecture Military: quick gauss capacitors, repair platform, laser amplification, advanced metallurgy (these all only require 1 lab)
Then you would, of course, since this is the first level and you need a bit of an introduction, get a couple of primary objectives such as:
1) Hold out for 20-30 minutes (until the reinforment fleet arrives) and once you do that, 2) Use the reinforcements to destroy the enemy's outpost in this solar system (a volcanic planet the vasari are using to build forces for their attacks on your planet)
And you would get secondary objectives:
1) build a force of 6 Cobalts (you can't build any more due to the population cap and you don't have access to research higher supply line levels) 2) build a gauss platform 3) build a repair bay 4) Build a military and a civics lab 5) research something 6) send an Arkova scout frigate to find the location of the vasari outpost before the reinforements arrive.
Also, most importantly, you would have to get transmissions ALL the time to keep it interesting. For example, planetary defense (some chick whose face pops up on your HUD) would be the one to assign all of your objectives, give you updates on the situation (if a really large enemy wave is incoming she could warn you a minute in advance or if you spot a new type of enemy ship/capital ship she could tell you what it is and what it does or go "OMG what the hell is that, I'll have our scientists analyze it") and congratulate you from time to time. In this mission the admiral of the fleet that is coming to help you could talk to you from time to time (how are you holding up? we're almost there, just a bit longer etc.)
You'd have to get mission briefings too in between missions and please don't make the player some weird "silent character" like in CnC. Have him/her speak and show his/her face.
As for further mission ideas, you could do missions where you don't actually control any planets (at least for the first part of the mission) and where you have to complete objectives only getting limited reinforcements and/or rescuing stranded ships.
Basically, give it an RTS campaign, it would fit so well into this amazing game due to the fact that it isn't turn-based. You can always still have 4x gameplay for skirmishes and multiplayer games.
Thank you for your time and please tell me what you guys think
