New user - WindowBlinds 7 on Windows 7 Premium - Installed correctly but applied changes have no affect

I'm running the demo/trial version of WindowsBlind 7 on Windows 7 Premium.

Fresh install. When I select an included theme (Stardock Clay, for example) and click "Apply" no error messages appear, but applied changes do not take effect. Even if I log out and back in, no changes appear.

Running on a laptop with shared video memory.

(Note that I basically get the same results on Windows Vista 64-bit Ultimate on a desktop PC with a dedicated Geforce 9600GT video card. So maybe I'm being WindowsBlind impaired somehow?)

"About WindowBlinds" on my Windows 7 PC as follows:

Your computer has a Windows Experience Index base score of 1
Your Windows Graphics Experience score is 1.9

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 7.0 (build 230 - Windows 7 Edition) - Shareware

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC

Thanks for any ideas.

Update your experience index and see if that doesn't correct the problem.

A WEI index of 1 and a graphics score of just 1.9 is likely the problem here.l  WindowBlinds requires a better graphics experience to be able to skin correctly - above 3 if I remember correctly - and you probably need to upgrade your graphics card to see the benefits, and it doesn't have to be top-end or expensive.  A good, mid-range PCIe card should do the trick and it won't cost you a fortune.

Any of the 'Aero' themes requires a PC that can run Aero in glass mode.  You need an experience score of 2.0 or higher for those.

Thanks.

Should have thought of the Aero issue. Non-aero themes in WindowBlinds work fine on my Windows 7 laptop.

I'll try updating the Experience Score on my 64-bit Vista PC (which with a 9600GT should be plenty high) and try WindowBlinds again.

You may also have to update your graphics card drivers to access the best performance of that card... the generic drivers installed by Vista may not deliver such good results as the ones directly from Nvidia.
