Yes...you should have... All is not lost:

Uninstall wb7 through  Impulse.  Reboot. Open Impulse and download and install wb7. Reboot.

Should take care of it. To uninstall through Impulse, just right click on the wb7.

sounds like you've still got a bad file/download/install......make sure you have an exception in your security software for Impulse.exe

Neil can check file dates to see if one is "borked".........In the Windowblinds configuration, click on "About Windowblinds" then click on "copy to clipboard" and paste the information into a reply here

It looks good to me...mind you, I'm not an expert. When you write "The Start Bar is messed up" I wonder if you could make a screen shot?

They're easy (and fun)...

http://wiki.wincustomize.com/wiki/Screenshots:_How_to_make_one

If that's too much for you at this stage (and it might be...no problem) don't feel bad. We were all there once.

1. Open Impulse and click on the blue button in the upper left corner. Make sure the "Show Prerelease" square is checked.

Then close and open Impulse again (if the 'show pre release' wasn't checked.). See if there are any Updates - Impulse should show if there are under "Updates" tab (at the top) if there are, install them). If there are Windowblind updates, and you install them you'll have to reboot. Do so.

If that's the problem, it should be solved.

If not:

2. Open Impulse to the "My Software" tab.

On Windowblinds 7, right click and > "Verify Installation". If it says all is installed correctly...fine, let us know. If not, do what it says in the little window. This can take a minute or two to appear.

If these steps haven't helped, open a ticket at support.

This what I was talking about if you look at the top of the start bar you will see these two boxes at top

and there  are two program arrows should be one. This wb is called tinted..

vawayne....in the Windowblinds config....on the bottom next to the "Visual Styles" tab, there's another tab that says "1 Style" or "2 Styles" etc.....click on that tab and make sure you're using the Style for XP

Yeah I know about the styles and using xp style for this wb. also on some the themes I DL the start bar

folders are half showing the ones on the right side. Do you think the reason most of themes are skinned wb 5,6

and wb 7 is too new?

I DL the start bar folders are half showing the ones on the right side.
End of quote

I see this also.....I believe it's related to the design icon size used for some skins (small vs large) and bad margin settings on others.

Ok...guess number....3...or 4 The "All Programs" issue is normally related to using Large Fonts (120 DPI)...but yours don't look that way. The 2 boxes......I don't know....could be caused by a version 6 "left over" maaybe. Neil's putting out an update  that's going to address some left over registry issues.

Just to verify...you see this issue with all skins, right?

no not all skins some work good..the others I get that half folders on the start bar and I do

have my  dpi set at 120 ...I thought that setting was just for desktop? will it also effect

the start bar icons too?

Yes, it effects all system text and therefore the margins settings for the text which effect how the graphics "fit together"

edit: I believe this is not an issue with Vista and Windows 7.......

well that was the problem dpi at 120 I DL one of the skins that had the half folders on start

bar and now the start bar looks the way it should be at dpi 96. But my fonts are small at this setting. So how

can I make the fonts bigger without messing the skin up? FYI screen 1680x1050 wide

far as I can see you have 2 choices......upgrade to Windows 7 and use the personaliztion setting for Font size or edit the skin in Skinstudio to correct the margin issues. You may want to start a dialog with one of the Windowblinds skinners to find out which margins need adjusting.

I recommend W7 Home Premium unless there's a reason not to. Saw the upgrade for $49 several places this week.

I use XP Pro on my workstation(s) because it would be too costly to upgrade my server and all my seats at this time but when it comes to personal computers I've been switching them all over to W7.....went Pro with my laptop because I do interact with my office network with it but Home Premium on the others.

Just a update I don't know if this will work for all skins on xp pro but I went into display on desktop

and change to large this changed the start bar to a nice size. Now the program fonts and clock I used  wb to

changed the fonts for this..
