This is a great dock. I've been using it on Vista and Windows 7 (both 32 bit and 64 bit) and it works fine. The screenshot shows the Leopard theme which looks great at the bottom of the screen (like the Mac), but doesn't work for me at the top of the screen where I position it (can't get used to having the taskbar at the top). There are many other themes to choose from though. Definitely recommended!

might give it a go od plus is what i use everyday never tried this i wish od plus would get an update

If you're using OD plus then you might want to give Winstep Xtreme 9.11 Beta a try instead, since the Nexus version in Xtreme supports tabbed docks, multiple docks and sub-docks. If you install the free version of Nexus and then click on the Winstep Xtreme link at the bottom of the About tab in Preferences, you get access to a nice, 50% off, Winstep Xtreme promotion. At $19.95 for a suite of applications that usually sells for $39.90 (WorkShelf + Nexus + NextSTART + Start Menu Organizer Pro + FontBrowser), it's a no brainer, even if only decide to use the WorkShelf + Nexus component.

Nexus is nice for sure but OD Plus is the way to go

Apples and oranges, really, at least when you're talking about Winstep Xtreme (especially for $19.95). What can I say, I like 'em both.

*edited...Jorge is absolutely right. My bad.

There are just way too many 'toys' out there for the desktop.

The price isn't all that bad for Winstep either.

My problem is how would it all intergrate together.  I know Winstep is compatible with Stardock stuff,  I'm just not sure I would find a use for all of it.  Then there would be the desktop clutter.

What would be nice is to see a screenshot of a desktop using ObjectDock Plus, DesktopX, Fences and Winstep.   Wonder if that would be just to much duplication of effort.

Hmmmm. :S

All the options in the old UI can also be found on the new UI, DrJBHL (except for skinning settings), although at a different place. What exactly is the problem? Why do you say 'it won't let you'? And why not use the Winstep forums to discuss support issues instead of a Nexus announcement at Wincustomize? lol ;)

Whoops ... you're right. My bad. Sorry, Jorge. I really think it's a problem of the computer's and not WinStep. :X

Still, just post a message on the Winstep forums with the reply to my questions and I'll try to help you figure out what could be wrong.  :)

First off i would like to say how great the dock works..... :CONGRAT: But one thing how do i change the icon for the Recycle bin..? I have found some great Mac ones..... Thanks
Reply #18 Top

Robbie_Boy... open an icon and see they type of image....png/.tga...whatever...then convert the mac icon format to that type...there are simple, small apps that do that for you ... I'd suggest asking WebGizmos how to do it as he puts together a lot of really great skins for WinStep.

:)

Thanks for the reply Mate.. They are png's that i have... Thing is i can't see any way to change them in the Dock, I have changed all the others i have in the dock bar the recycle bin...:( So mabe you can't change the recycle bin ones....
The Recycle bin is a module/widget, therefore it doesn't use icons, it uses themes. Unless you want to learn how to make a Recycle Bin theme, I suggest you simply select the Aero LowRes theme in the Themes tab in Preferences, click on the Open Folder button and then replace the two Recycle Bin bitmaps you'll find in that folder with your own. Once you're happy, you can prevent the Recycle Bin theme from being changed when you switch to a different theme by right clicking the Recycle Bin icon and selecting 'Lock Theme'.

Still doesn't support system tray icons as a dock? When will they do the real program we want a new version of - Objectdock plus! Fences is a bit useless because when you have windows up they are underneath, nexus doesn't have system tray support so you either have to have the bloated nexus extreme or your windows task bar still up. Come on stop wasting time on the ok stuff and do objectdock PLEASE.
I resent your 'bloated' Winstep Xtreme comment, Nyxmorph!  ;p Especially because Winstep Xtreme is modular and you can run only the applications you want.

I understand your frustration with Stardock for not releasing a new version of ObjectDock in nearly two years, but there is a thread dedicated to that in the Wincustomize forums, here is definitely not the place to vent about it.

As for the systray support in Nexus docks, the only reason I haven't added it yet is because I am busy doing the new User Interface for the NextSTART component of Winstep Xtreme and I MUST finish that first (WorkShelf's new User Interface with multi-language support is done already in 9.11 Beta 5, by the way).

The next version of Nexus in Winstep Xtreme will add support for the systray in docks (the technology for manipulating multiple copies of the systray is already in NextSTART), but I guess the free Nexus version won't feature it (much like ObjectDock free vs. ObjectDock Plus).

Winstep is composed of NextSTART, NeXuS and WorkShelf. They can be used together (Winstep Extreme) or separately. It is it's own system and isn't at all 'bloated' as you seem to think. If you give it a try (there is free trialware at Winstep.net) I'm sure you'll see how incorrect your statement is.

Why not give it a try? What have you got to lose? I use both at different times for different purposes. It really isn't a contest about "Which is better software".

Also...I really don't think I.D. would give a member here a bum steer. There are dozens of apps which surface and which are not mentioned in his news items, so maybe you should be taking that as an implicit recommendation?
