Skinstudio 7 Beta not available with WB/SS combo?

I recently upgraded my Windowblinds subscription with almost 4 months left on my old one, just so I could get WB 7 beta (I also upgraded to W7).  I was really disappointed to see that I could not also get the beta version of SkinStudio 7 with my subscription.  I really have no interest in ObjectDesktop Ultimate so I can't justify purchasing it just to get access to the beta. 

Any idea when SS7 beta will be available to people like me?

 

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere.  I searched for an answer, but, alas, it was not found.  Thanks for everyones time.

well windowblinds is ONE thing and skinstudio is OTHER THING ...

I have a subscription to the Windowblinds/Skinstudio Bundle (stated that in the Topic, but I guess it should have been clearer) that is why I would expect to be able to beta test SS7.  Purchasing the bundle means that I specifically want Skinstudio. 

I just couldn't justify paying for OD Ultimate when I really only wanted those two programs. Again, thanks for your time.

 

EDIT:  The more I think of BK's comment the more it upsets me  "be grown"????   I own a subscription that includes Windowblinds  AND Skinstudio.  That is why I would EXPECT to have access to the Beta...or does that only make sense to me?

One of the 'perks' that comes with having a subscription to ObjectDesktop is being able to get to beta test those programs that are included when they are updated.

Probably with your purchase you get only the final release versions rather than also advanced betas as with an OD licence. Maybe best to enquire from [email protected] , https://esupport.stardock.com/ or https://www.stardock.com/support/

I understand that, I had one in the past.  But, who better to test your software than a person that you know wants to use it?  A person can purchase OD Ultimate and never install Skinstudio, but a person that purchases the program specifically, obviously is using it.  I have never shared any of my skins because i alawys seem to get distracted away before it is in a state that I would share it, but I have created several and feel I am getting better all the time. 

Anyway, if it isn't available to me, then I will just have to wait, but it couldn't, or at least shouldn't, hurt to ask.

Most of the betas are only available to Object Desktop subscribers.  Purchasing the WindowBlinds/SkinStudio bundle is not purchasing as a subscription, and you will most likely need to purchase upgrades when new major application versions are developed.

So what you are saying is that I will have to purchase Skinstudio 7 when it becomes available?  I understand now that what I purchased wasn't a 'subscription", but I feel somewhat cheated if I am going to be pressured into purchasing a $70 bundle just to be able to move through the product cycle for at least a few months after purchase. 

I do realize that my expectations may have been too high, but I am just having trouble justifying to myself the need to spend another $40 to get the beta/upgrade that I desire.  Of course, this is assuming I could get a refund on my recently purchased WB/SS bundle or at least a credit towards OD Ultimate.

Sorry for the trouble and I am now done with my complaining.  Thanks for listening

 

EDIT:   Actually I am a bit confused.  I went to the Windowblinds area of the site and it lists Skinstudio as part of the normal Object Destop subscription for $49.99, but when you go to the Object Destop area of the site it lists Skinstudio as a component of Ultimate only.  Which is it?  I may be more inclined to spend the $49.99 if it is included in the standard subscription.

Niac, you can upgrade from what you have to ObjectDesktop.  Check the following link, but I would also check with the sales folks to inquire about any other savings that are availalbe, HINT, HINT.

The WindowBlinds/SkinStudio bundle is only $29.95.  Object Desktop is $49.95 and in the coming weeks will be the only version, including all the Ultimate apps (you will be upgraded if you buy now, and those with current Ultimate subscriptions will be extended a year).

Thank you for all the help and advice.  Although I most likely won't install most of the other software, I am checking with customer support to see how I can go about upgrading to ObjectDesktop.net.

I think you may be pleasantly surprised.  There are some real awesome apps in Object Desktop.  I am especially excited about Fences Pro being included with Object Desktop 2010.

or will it after I renew in Feburary go to 2012 ?

I also have ObjectDock Plus and it shows Expiration date None why is that, shouldn't this be Feburary 09, 2010 ?

The extension hasn't happened yet.  Most likely, it will be around the actual release of OD 2010, but all dates subject to change blah blah cover my ass blah blah.
