Kronac's Cross - bug with pirates?

While playing the Kronac's Cross map I've noticed that when it comes to pirates, the computer players only bid against me and never the other players. This happens no matter how what the current bid values are. For example, even though I bid 1000 on two of the other players, there won't be a bidding war between the two and somehow the bids increase only against me. I've not noticed this in any other map I've played which seems to indicate a bug. Anyone else notice this?

Well first, I should probably mention it's pretty well agreed apon that bidding against other players is not a very good use of money, especially if you have entrenchment. But anyways, I've never tried to get two AIs into bidding wars, but I noticed the AI will usually bid on whatever player is ranked the highest. So if you are #1 in military and economy, they will probably go out of their way to bid on you.

Good to know about your point about entrenchment. I dont' own it currently because I bought the game recently and am still enjoying the it pre-expansion. One question is, how does the AI or any human player know who is #1 in terms of military or economy? Is it by scouting to see who has the most planets and ships owned? Ironically, on this map I rarely have the best economy and military (as seen by viewing reports when exiting the match) and I still get bid against exclusively without fail.

stupid question but are the other AI allied with each other? if teams are unlocked they may be allied and you dont know

if you have not selected anything, (you can effect this by clicking in the middle of space) then some numbers will appear to the left of your avatar. these are your rankings in economy, military and empire (i think). mouse over them to see a (slightly) more detailed list. but these are only for yourself. presumably the ai is capable of accessing this for all factions, something you can only do in the post-exit data screen

A more straight-forward way to get to the Diplomacy screen is hit F1, or clicking on the 'handshake' picture at the top menu. Then click on your name to get a detailed list of your rankings (if it is not already selected).
