Orbitals, DysonSpheres, Bad Artefakts

I know people modding usually hate requests, so i only ask for a link to some modding tutorials, and/or toollists.

Want to try to replace a Planetmodell with a CultureOrbital or a DysonSphere (HighPopulation, Zero Ressources, Nearly Zero Structural Hitpoints, Population drops to zero after little bombardment)

And i cant resist the suggest completely.. has somebody alread plead the deves to develop "bad" artefacts, so searchin a planet has a little more russian roulett flair? Just think at all the dangers you could find.

1. MetallPlague, eatin through your ship and metallstored if you don“t quarantine the gravitywell of the artifact (or infect your enemys planets, if you let your fleet flyby)

2.ComputerVirus (undoin your sience, slowly)

3.Parasites: Alieninvestation, poppin out of the Population, killing it (GiggerTribbles).

4. PhasePhail: Ships can jump into the G-Well of the Planet, but no longer away.

5. GreyGoo: Starts eatin your Traded Goods, if not quarantined..

6.Energylifeform: Renders all Buildings in Orbit useless. Feeds upon LaserFire and BattleBlast in its Area, till it has certain size, than parts and starts to send its eggs to other planets were they grow again.

If you cope with your Problem by quarantine it well, and even get your opponent to jump on a seemless baddefended artefact, you can pass the hot potatoe on

Planet Exploration is already an extemely poor investment.

seriously? I always searched them, every single one, found some of the found stuff quiet usefull

I know their can be bad planet bonuses, though I don't think anyone has tried a bad artefact, probably because they apply to your entire empire not just the planet they are on.

It would not be hard to build one (admittedly nothing close to the OPs suggestions) just change around the effects of a single artifact and volia' bad artifact

the badness of the artifact would still be invisible to the other players?

yes, they only get the message that there was an artifact found at sucha-sucha planet

and you can not abandon planets, no matter how bad the artifact is. :d

PS: I still have no idea how the planetmodells are stored. Are those 3ds, zipped and jpeg textured?
