Object Desktop & Windows 7 64bit

Hey guys,

I've recently purchased OD(basic) and prior to purchase I'd got it confirmed by the tech support guy that any current subscribers would be upgraded to a version of OD that supports Windows 7.

I've installed most of the apps of OD via Impulse on my Win7 OS but when I to install either Deskscapes or Windows Blinds, I get the incompatibility error.

But now I have noticed on the Stardock product page that there is a newer version of OD that support Windows 7, but why I am not getting the upgrade?? Shouldn't my account in Impulse pick the upgrade to the OD that supports Win7?

I was in no hurry to purchase OD but since I received a confirmation from the tech guy that 'most apps' do work on Win7 and that I would be upgraded to OD that supports Win7, I went ahead and purchased the s/w.

I could've just waited for this new version of OD to be released.

What are your thoughts? Did anyone face the same issue?

Thanks for your help in advance guys.

By the way, forgot to mention that Deskscapes won't even install via Impulse and when I try to install I get the message: "This program is not compatible with your current operating system".

You need to enable show prereleases in Impulse.  This can be set from the Impulse Orb menu at the top right of Impulse.

Then you will have access to Deskscapes 2.9x (DS3) and WB7.

That was a good one Neil, I probably just need to get used to Impulse. Yes, I'm now able to see 'update' for my WindowsBlind, Icon Packager and Theme Manager. But I do not see any udpate for Deskscapes or DS3 that you mentioned.

I hope that the 'updates' that I am installing which Impulse shows, is actually a proper update to my existing ObjectDesktop components and not a 'trial' version of them.

I will dig around for Deskscapes 3 but per what you're saying, I should see it anyway in my Impulse....

Thanks for the help!

Wait...!!! I can see that against Deskscapes s/w in Impulse, I see 'Available'. So right-clicked it and clicked on install and its installing it!

But previously when I didn't have 'pre-releases' ticked and when I tried to intall Deskscapes, I straight away got the error that it's not compatible with my OS. So what I'm seeing now is a good sign....its installing!!

As said, I hope what I'm installing/updating is a permanent update to my existing suite of apps rather than 'trial' as I've bought the s/w!.

Cheers mate for your help...will let you know how i get on!

Yep, all's good now! It's a small option on Impulse!

Thanks Neil. :)
