Look to improve

Well I’m at a point where I’m looking for ways to improve, yea I read the guides and yada yada yada. Yes the guide are nice but I am the type of person who can simply improve through a guide, I need someone who  can look at what I am doing and explain where I am messing up at. Anyways to anyone who is willing to take the time an help here are 5 of my latest games. My most used demigods are Tb, QoT, and General oak, but these five games are focused around due to the fact QoT is still in a larva stage and I hate form dance, ice tb low damage, fire TB lack of moving auto attack and a controlling move.

Note: in one of these I messed up my skil build because I was rushing.

Best advice you'll ever get: Quit playing QoT or TB.  If you really want to get good at this game, play Erebus, UB,Sedna, or Oak.  At the top level, those are the only playable DG's.

Reread my post if you had read it you'll know that I already use oak. Secodnly if you watched just one of the replays you'd see me only using oak. If you look at demigods played than you'd see oak is my most used demigod.

I don't use sedna I have no poblem with healers but in this game she doesn't appeal to me, LE and UB just arent my style of playing, Reg...ha, Rook I seriously lack patience for. So please onky post if it is helpful and not a waste of time thank you.

I'm correcting here a common mistake. Does the fact this is your post give you the feeling we cannot speak about something else than your request?

For your own problem, I hope you're going to find people who have time to watch 5 replays and comment them for you. Personnaly, I don't.

I find several guides written very helpful, this should really be enough. Are you waiting for someone telling you: "you should have run at 04:37", "you should have buy Nirmoth and not Hauberkt",... ? This is just brain, watch your own replays, and it will be obvious to see what and when you screwed up.

Am I expecting someone to watch all five replays, No. Through seeing is a better understanding of how someone plays than just reading text, ok you work well that way great, but not everyone is like you. I am not text oriented I am hands on, am I expecting some one to teach me every little thing no. But I am asking an outside factor to help me grow in thus area, i don't know about you but if I look back over them I won't see istake I made, not in something of this nature anyways. I will see what  I did and why I did it, to me I a see a linear path in this game, and asking an outside force to come and interfere with what I see.

Watch other peoples replays then, if you really want to learn.  And then - and this is the critical part - watch the replays of the games you lost.  And at every point that you died, ask yourself why, and what you should have done differently.  If people were better about asking why things went wrong, it's far easier to fix them.

With my group, every time someone dies, the immediate question is "why".  And then we figure out what went wrong, and fix it.

Watched this replay, and I've got some tips.

You were playing an Oak minion build. Early on, I thought you were just not reacting to combat very well.  People fighting near you, and you not engaging.  I realized that you were actually only sending in your minions to do the work.  This is really not a good idea, especially at level 1. Get your Axe in there and help your buddies out!

On your first trip back to base, you buy some idols and Unbreakable Boots.  Getting scaled Helm + Banded + Scale Mail would probably have been better instead of the unbreakables, and you should have picked up a teleport scroll instead of maybe getting so many minions.

Nextly, you often send your minions off to fight en masse, and since you are not nearby them, you monks are not healing you.  THis means that early on you are low on health when you needn't be.

At 5:09, you have a great opportunity to kill the left side tower.  Full army, a few grunts, and your axe will take it down pretty quick.

6:25, another great example of you not getting your auto attack going.  2 on 1 shouldn't just include your minions.  Get in there too!

At 7:50, note how the 'tower' rook here without hammer slam OR boulder roll can't finish the job in what should have been an easy kill.

8:41 You guys are now war score 4, and haven't bought the gold upgrade.  This could have been pivotal.

14:11 you don't recapture the portal that sedna got from you.

16:30 you guys have a clear victory route, buy creep upgrades, and recapture that right side portal. Your entire team only manages priests. If this had been a close game, this error would have likely lost it for you.

In general, try to be more aware of the battle around you.  Missing flag captures, or chances to help in combat is pretty big.  Also try to work your minions and DG at the same time.  Select him and go into combat with your troops, and then order just him to move away while the troops attack who is near you.

Get shield earlier, and be more aggressive. You aren't using penitence OR Surge of might... but you do have Divine justice. HOwever since most of your damage came from your minions, divine justice was almost a complete waste.

Hope this helps.

So I have been playing the minion build wrong from th beginning?

There isn't really any reason to not help your minions out.  Obviously Minion Damage + DG Damage is greater than just minion damage. The advantage of a minion build is that you can ALSO get just the Minion damage against an opponent who is otherwise too strong.  Either because you are just too low on health, or because they have an ally nearby. Oak has the nice touch of being able to shield himself if things get too hot for him, and make a break for the nearest safe area, while his minions continue to harass his enemy.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't get in some Axe damage when you can however, especially if you control your minions well enough.

I don't know if it's the case, synnworld, but don't forget to send one monk to an Assassin ally and, when running to citadel, keep your minions on battlefield.

thanks for the help.

For a minion build i would not recommend unbreakable boots at all much less as the first purchase when you RTB.  I agree with Zech, other good combos include vlemish + banded + mail (my preference for my first RTB), Nimoths+ scaled helm if i dont have enough for vlem + banded or for an early minion build Hauberk + scaled helm could be ok but since i think its better to get nimoths.  I would wait until after I got nimoths, banded, vlemish & male before getting hauberk.

General Oak Advice:

Always get Pentenice at least for an interrupt

Always get sheild if just to get rid of harmful effects and make your escape or later on allowing you to teleport without being stunned or interrupted

Surge of Faith is great, Especially when using minions. Remember its an AoE and try to use it to power up your minions, kill creeps And daamage your opponent at once for full effect

Fully levelling up divine justice may not be worth it if you arent the one landing the killing blows. Remember that

Other than that I advise at least giving the other DGs a shot. If anything just to learn how they work and how to counter them
