WB 7 refuses to fully maximise windows on Win 7 (screenshots)

It leaves gaps at bottom top and sides....

I was configuring Object Dock Plus with Windowblinds enabled, when suddenly a VERY IRRITATING bug (or problem) was triggered, which I have no idea how to fix (have tried everything I can think of).

Problem - see screenshot below.

SYMPTOM:

When pressing the maximise window button, the window doesn't maximise to the full available screen-space.

It leaves quite a large gap at the bottom and at all other sides.

The problem occurs intermittedly with Windows Explorer - but occurrs consistently with with FIREFOX (latest build).

EDIT: I also tested with Task Manager which does NOT display correctly (screenshot below) and Notepad (also broken).

ITunes and VLC Media player  --- also broken

I can NEITHER use the maximise button successfully, NOR manually (through dragging the corners) get the window to use the full screen.

If I disable Windowblinds, then the windows AUTOMATICALLY correct themselves and display on the ENTIRE available screen-space.

So the problem is clearly related to WB. It does not seem to be related to Object-Dock, even though it started when I was configuring Object Dock.

The problem occurs with ALL skins, but it is more pronounced with some than with others.

I have tried lots of things to fix this problem:

-------Reboot....

-------Uninstall WB7 and Object Dock Plus

-------Clean the registry of all WB7 values.

-------Re-set the screen resolution to something else.

Nothing fixes the problem and I am very frustated.

I am technical and if you tell me what I need to do, I'll do it.

"Fully maximised" Firefox

"Fully maximised" Task Manager

Thanks for letting me know ablev... I thought I might have tried something very complicated and triggered a bug that nobody else would care about.,..

The problem IS  related to the fact that i keep the sidebar on the SIDE and not at the bottom. It doesn't occur when the sidebar is at the bottom.

However, that is a useless position when you have a widescreen monitor - the side is a MUCH BETTER location for wide-screen users (like me).

I am thinking that Windowblinds has an internal setting for "maximised" somewhere, and that this has got corrupted. Or perhaps it's uses some value from Windows - but this is NOT a Firefox problem - it can be observed with the majority of applications that I've got installed - including some that come with Win7.

It's no use asking in a Windows 7 forum - they'd immediately say something like "disable that buggy junk - we can't support you if you use that".

But I love WB, I've paid for it and I want to continue using it... But I can't until this is fixed!

Maybe there's a "Reserve Space" setting for the Sidebar?

Doesn't OD+ have that feature too?

Thanks for the suggestion DrJBHL! I have tried altering all settings that appear even remotely related to window size.

No joy...

Oh wait  ............

I tried some more skins and I have found that the problem is NOT present with the skin "Laguna" and "Purity"

But it is really bad with the skins "Glassix", "Optix", "Altitude" - Making them unusable.

The problem is present but the gap at the bottom is much smaller with "Aero Midnight"

I think there is enough information here now for somebody from Stardock or just an experienced skinner to be able to draw a conclusion quite easily.

I like the skin "Altitude" and I would like to use it. Perhaps I can hack a bit myself in Skinstudio? But what setting would I have to change?

@Snowman - You are right. I think that ObjectDock Plus has this setting, called "Reserve window space" or something like that.

WindowBlinds has nothing like that so far as I can tell.

In fact, it was precisely when I was messing around with this, and other settings in OD+ that I first noticed this problem.

I don't know if it was triggered by OD+ or what...

Try disabling/play with 'Reserve edge of screen" and "Automatic Distance from edge"

Thanks! Yeah, that setting is precisely what I meant.

I have tried all settings on that tab in OD+    including shutting down the ObjectDock completely. (killing the process AND also letting it shut by itself.). No success though.

It's impossible not to suspect this functionality (since it is related to the area that causes problems)  but there seems to be nothing I can do with it that makes the problem go away.

This problem has nothing to do with objectdock, it comes with the last WB7 update to 7.0 build 220.

With the versions before i had no problems with "maximized" and if i´m selecting the orig. aero-skin in WB7, the problem is gone.

Yeah, Ablev I'm tempted to agree with you... Hoping for a better release soon.

Upon further thought I DID in fact update my WB to the latest build on the day that this started.

I just assumed I had triggered the problem myself by messing around too much.

But this could be a regression that was introduced with the latest build.

So when will the next build come out?

That´s a good question.

We can waiting and hoping only.
