I need some advice against Oak kindly.

Hello, I just recently bought two copies of this game so my lady and I can play together and i'm having a blast. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out a good defense against oak end game. I was playing against another player and his strategy of rushing with oak and as many citadel upgrades (angels, priests, his own minions, etc) as possible blew me away. He attacked my towers, and then purposely died every single time so he could trigger last stand, and every single time he destroyed 1 or 2 of my towers, all the while healing his own troops while he went beserk. My wife tried using silence on sedna right before he died, but that doesn't work. As far as I know there is no way to interupt it, and when we try to run away the increased speed doesn't matter in the least. Maybe I don't understand the mechanics of this game, but i'm doing very well in all other area's. Anything you guys could help with, would be appreciated. Thanks alot, asking for help in anything isn't very easy for me :)

No, you can't interrupt last stand. However, he won't level since he'll die a lot, and you will gain gold from killing him. Every team ought to have at least 1 Demigod with good AoE in order to handle stuff like this. If their citadel reinforcements were pushing you around, you needed to get them yourself. Also, while he's still alive, chainstunning works well.

ya.. basically to deal with last stand, first time it might catch you offguard.. 2nd time, there is like 2-3 seconds after you kill that it takes for him to transform or w/e.  Kill him and start running like a madman :P  teleport works nicely as well.

To actually kill an oak beyond level 8.. this can be tricky.  Well.. it can be tricky only if he's gotten rank 3 shield.. this allows him to shield himself and teleport out without fear of interruption or death.  Most oak's don't use this until the last second.. I know I don't.  So, say you have a sedna / ub against the oak.  Work him down with spit / pounce / autoattacks, w/e you have.. try to predict how much damage you can do in 4 seconds.. then when he has that much hp left.. silence him, and grasp him right after the silence.  Technically 5 seconds.. but you might overestimate the damage you do, or cut off a second on the silence w/e.  I've thought I was being clever saving my shield til I was low.. but if timed well.. the oak better be shielding around 2500 hp or else it's good night

I think most stuns etc work on a last stand oak. I'm not sure if this is only if he does't have the super shield 3 though.

Oak is pretty weak early on though. It balances out that he really only starts to mess and do well from about level 12 or so on, so you haveto press your advantage early. As in, put him on the defensive :)

Oak is a very strong late game Demigod.. but that's okay because a game of Demigod is often won because of good decisions made early in the game, and then capitalizing on those decisions as you level up.

In this way, Oak is beaten in the same way most others are.  For instance, you were worried that he had a large force of grunts supporting him. If early on you can manage your flag control so you get warscore faster, you will ultimately deny him of these. Secondly, maintaining control of key flags, like a Deblitation flag, a +15% health flag, or similar can keep the early game in your favor, and may even result in some kills.

Lastly, knowing how to use mobility items in the game, especially Wand of Speed and Teleport scrolls can significantly up your game.  These will both help you run from battle, but more importantly can let you ambush someone who is not otherwise able to fight back. Early game, oak can often fall into this category as he doesn't have many good low level abilities.

I would never ever die on purpose, it seems like the most effective way to feed the enemies. If an Oak died on purpose multiple times and you couldnt win, you had to be doing something wrong because that would mean you got lots of gold  from kills and assists which you could spend on items to kill him and his allies to get even more gold and buy  more reinforcemetns and strong towers. also, there is no way he can be as well really strong himself and buy all kinds of citadel upgrades unless you have fed him. Lastly, last stand is something you cant get early on so in the early game that shouldnt be a problem.

And it just isnt always possible to protect your towers in late game. If an oak first has to die to destroy them thats all the better but it seems to me that your oak's strategy wasnt even that good.

the best way to counter this is to make sure to get gold of his dead (an assist is nice, a kill better, if you have snipe and/or heavenly wrath you dont even need to be near him to kill/assist him), invest in high hp (damage doesnt matter because your enemy is suicidal anyway, and you need to be able to take a lot of damage) and citadel upgrades and lock their portal flags once he is dead and has to wait until he revives. that will require some teleports and locks.

Ah okay, thanks for the information I recently had a few more matches a 1 vs 1 Unclean beast vs. Oak and thoroughly demolished him. I think I was believing his damage was coming from himself, when his army was the real problem so I obtained the Semi-AOE ability for beast (the exploding corpse thing I believe) and stunned him before the teleports and it worked out nicely. Thanks for the advice, nice to know some game communites aren't full of idiots these days. WoW was a $#@%#

Also good god, does any demigod cut through people like beast? I almost feel overpowered on this thing..and I never play demigods that the community feels are overpowered because it simply kills the enjoyment of a win. Are there certain gods that everyone feels need buffed or nerfed? or is it simply "a kills b unless b specs C" situation? Thanks again.

Yeah, all of the idiots left to play another game. :P Also, consider getting Ooze as UB. It does AoE damage and reduces the attack speed of all enemy units. Beast is arguably the strongest demigod in the game, but he can still be countered. Try using Blade of the Serpent or Blood of the Fallen on UB, as those are the two best favor items for him.
