Icon Packager

Not Happy

I just purchased Icon Packager 4 through Impulse.  Icon Packager 5 showed as "update available" but Impulse would not let me install it so I went ahead and purchased version 4.  Now Impulse will let me update to Icon Packager 5 if I pay them another $19.95?  Why couldn't I just have purchased Icon Packager 5 in the first place?  There is no way I am going to pay double.  I expected to get the most recent version when I paid my hard earned money.  8(| Advice anyone?  I forgot to add that I have emailed sales on this issue.  In the meantime, Impulse wants to download the "update" which causes an error.

This is absolutely no help, but I have the same problem. You buy one program only to find out that to make everything work, you have to continually update, upgrade, and pull out the credit card. I love Stardock, but I am totally busted from bad computer purchases. Nothing seems to be "paid in full". I guess just keep your IV open or pull it out and close the wallet and drop the perks.

If you get an answer let me know. I have a x64 bit Vista Ultimate laptop that has cost me double the purchase price since Christmas 2008. Good IT techs are underpaid and over worked, do you just can't get any "freebies".

Thanks for the vent.

IconPackager 5 is in beta and is available to Object Desktop subscribers only. I'm not sure what the upgrade path is to version 5 - it has something to do with when you bought version 4.

For anyone considering purchases, an Object Desktop subscription is much better value than purchasing single programs (depending on how many you want to use)

And you will need to make that purchase just to get other stardock purchases to work...

They push the Object Desktop purchase because none of the stand alone software products work properly and are in a constant state of beta with updates almost every day...

Just cut your loses, close your wallet and consider Stardock a lose...

Yes I have been suckered in to Stardock by Nice looking MyColors themes only to find out that I need to purchase other software for it to work right, load, uninstall properly or better yet the way it should..

Stardock software has more bugs then a roach motel..
