You cant be serious. ObjectBar2 hasn't been updated in forever. There are a whopping 8 objects in the ObjectBar2 gallery. The ObjectBar gallery has many more, but nothing new since 2006. The article is referencing OB2. Besides that, does this app even work with Vista or Win7?

They are serious.  And it's a great app as is.

I think that the gallery is empty because most users of OB are power users and their setups are very unique to them.  I know mine is.

And yes, it works in both Vista and Win7.  :)

Not to mention that there was never any GOOD documentation ever put out for it. Will it work with x64 Win7?

IT was good enough for some skinners.  :)

And yes, I tested on Win7 64 and Vista64 this afternoon.  Some of the embedded DX gadgets didn't work but then again . . it's not Win7 ready yet, is it?  Core functionality is there.

Congratz SD!

Wonder what they'll say about WB7 and the rest of the software!

C'mon, you cant honestly expect OB to be any kind of moderate success without better documentation than what is out there. Don't get me wrong, I like OB, and I like the concept. Using it isn't a problem. Setting up menus etc isn't a problem. Skinning it however is an entirely different story. There are only 5 people that did anything with OB2 in that gallery. You being one of them obviously understand how to skin for it. The great majority however obviously don't. Congratz on the award but don't expect a lot of development and themes for it unless you provide better guides though.

The fact taht OB applies the WB skin makes it a win for me.  Skinning it on its own is secondary.

When I applied most of the default themes that come with it I was getting an Invalid Zip code error. Any ideas on that one?

Weather widget involved? Probably. I haven't used OB in a good while, but I seem to remember it being a lot like DX to configure. I liked the fact that it would use the current blind, if told to do so. Something I miss in RC. I may look into it again.

I gotta say, the screenshot would impress me more if they had used a more modern look, tho. The skin they used looks like Windows '98 to me...lol.  :NOTSURE:  And this looks bad.....

Congrats on the award. :CONGRAT:

I've had Object Desktop for a few years now but I haven't gotten around to trying Object Bar yet...any advantage in using it over the Windows Vista / 7 sidebar?

Also, I only see Object Bar listed in my software...is it the same as Object Bar 2?

I feel like such a newbie. :)

I just ran OB on Vista and it will not use a windowblind skin. It always uses the luna blue XP skin. This sux. I am running Gloss Burgundy, and it wants to use XP Blue crap.  Bummer.

LOL...

Please, this is ridiculous...

I'm also a software vendor, and that same site gave my product a 5-star award. EVEN THOUGH MY SOFTWARE WAS DISCONTINUED 2 YEARS PRIOR!

I've also received that same "editors choice" award for all my other software submitted to that site. I know for a fact it doesn't deserve it, they probably just give those awards away to get links back to their site.

As do most other software directory sites.

Objectbar is as good as discontinued too afaik....

Things that are going to go into maintenance mode (no longer updated): - ObjectBar. This is one of my favorites but we need to rewrite this to keep it up to date and at that point, we would release a new program based on today's requirements.

From WWW Link

In my opinion, maintenance mode would mean bugfixes, but no new features. No longer updated means it's discontinued.

I use ObjectBar on my XP Home 32 bit system to create a Vista style sidebar and it works just great with the option is use the theme of the current WB I m using.  I have tried to do this on my Vista Home Premium 64 bit system and can't get that function to work.

Is this a bug or am I missing or doing something wrong? :S
