Share a Favorite Song or Music Artist

I listen to all types of music, and since we have such a diverse community I thought it would be fun to share a favorite album or artist with others.

My pick today is Ziggy Marley.

He is the son of reggae legend Bob Marley, and in my opinion he sounds very much like him.

His latest release is on iTunes from a live performance at SoHo.  Any fan of his should check this out.

Amazon also has a single of his for free, so it's a great opportunity for others to check out.

Phil Roy - Spectacular singer, songwriter from Philadelphia. I first heard him about 8 years ago.  If you can find a download of 'Melt', grab it.  You won't be sorry.

One of my favorite artists happens to be my brother in law. Stan Williamson.

He has toured with Lee Greenwood, Jim Ed Brown, opened for Vince Gill, etc.

He is a keyboardist and is Music Minister at his church in Knoxville, Tn.

He has done a lot of work for Big Mama's Karaoke in Knoxville, and he does most of the instruments you hear on his site, a virtual one man band! Check him out!

His website was done by me and maintained by me.

For me, one of the most underrated bands of recent years is "Del Amitri". I'm so glad that I discovered their music, it has brought me more pleasure over the years than almost anything else. If you like intelligent, thoughtful lyrics coupled with cracking tunes, you should give them a listen. You will NOT be disappointed!

Justin Currie, the main singer/songwriter for Del Amitri, recently released a solo album called "What is love for?", and it contains some of the best songs I have ever heard.

And of course, I have to mention "Queen"................... just superb........... God bless you Freddie! B[]

Po: Thanks for the link to Phil Roy, really like that stuff! Will definitely get some of his stuff! And may I suggest that you listen to Ray LaMontagne? Similar stuff, and an equally great voice. If you haven't already, then give it a try........ :)

This is what I mean by thoughtful, intelligent lyrics........ No, surrender by Justin Currie......

Big Macs for the fat, lo-cal wraps for the call centre battery hens,
Japanese snacks for the choice-spoilt citizens, caviar kickbacks for the citadel denizens.

Airport shoeshines servicing the suits among the little silver stereos and hand-rolled cheroots,
First class passengers file on last after the scum are packed in with their tax-free loot.

Checkout calamity, you're cheated out of loyalty points, ten more years at this joint you'd be home & dry,
Beggars beat round the cash machines but you just slip between them with the usual lie.

Terrible tales of kidnapped kids keep you focused on the family and filling up the fridge,
Neighbourhood watchers shop dole dodgers, stick their semis on the market & start racking up the bids.

Should you stand and fight, should you die for what you think is right
So your useless contribution will be remembered?
If you're asking me I say no, surrender.

Constant growth the cancerous cure, a swarming race of profiteers ensure
Cheap cars for the rich, cheap lives for the poor, cheap weeks in the sun, free drinks at the door.

Puerile propaganda plugs up the TV, keep folk following the money so they'll never be free
Keep them swallowing the swill, the celebrities, the paedophiles, the immigrants invading from the
camp over the hill.

War talk, the big debate, footsoldiers in the capitol liberating new kinds of hate
Cum-shots of human dots caught in the spotlight's glare; he dies who dares.

Fatuous fast-trackers sneering at the shelf-stackers, little Middle-Englanders can't stand the backpackers,
Fortress Freedom, come on in, take your chances-you might win.

Should you stand and fight, should you die for what you think is right
So your useless contribution will be remembered?
If you're asking me I say no, surrender.

Sunset beaches security patrolled, keep out the undesirables who won't accept the code
Equal opportunity to live in total poverty, execute the ignorant incarcerate the slow

Car caressing managers choking up the avenues, brain dead patriots standing in salute
Paperwork raining again and again so that billionaires can claim there's an enemy to shoot

Pill pushers, doorsteppers, personal goal shoppers, lifestyle trendsetters, meditating mindbenders,
Hare-brained share sellers pumping out stocks til you're choking on a chain-letter avalanche of dross.

God squads crawling through every country tracking down fools who are bullshit hungry
Blinded by divinity followers fall into the man-traps set along the Wailing Wall.

Athletes compete in grand charades while tanks flatten streets and a nation laughs,
Visa holders gape at the changing guards while creeps bribe bums to take their photographs.

Film fans flock to the latest schlock, blockbusters block out even the vaguest thought
Bankrupt schools grind out fool after fool then feed them to a system where idiots rule.

Polling booths, phone votes, bogus questionnaires, you get a say as if anybody cares
Joe Public doesn't want to play so liquidate his life as he looks the other way.

Don't get sick, don't get wise or they'll gut you with a justice where everything is lies
March down Main Street, complain if you want but it's twenty years straight for the losers at the front.

If you're asking me I say no, surrender

Clever stuff, with powerful music too........ B[]

We are aware of some issues with activating copies of Majesty 2 purchased through Impulse.  We are trying to work through them as quickly as possible.

If you are having trouble with your registration, please send an email to [email protected] with the email address associated to your Impulse account.  Please use the subject line "Majesty 2 Registration Issue" so I can filter them and get to them quickly.

Po...I like your music. Reminds me alot of Harry Chapin.

Storm... Donald Fagen is Steely Dan...well technicly half but he was the major talent and was the driving force of the group. Basicly Becket wrote a few songs and played bass. Funny bit of trivia...the name Steely Dan was taken from a sex toy.

Here's what's been getting alot of play time on my Zune...

Stevie Ray Vaughan, by far the greatest Texas Rock / Blues artist that ever lived.

Mark Knopfler

John Fogerty

YES.

I have an mp3 of 'Mercedes Ladies' and 'All My Freinds Are Getting Married'

I can't find a pic of the back album cover. I remeber it had a letter from their 'number one fan' that ended with something about  enclosing something personal for the band. At the bottom of the letter was a severed fingered taped to the page.

Thanks.

I put the wrong link. There are 7 songs in all. Only two are 'live- bad recordings'. The other 5 are studio. Click on Pozer for correct link.

Flyin' Low... Jimmy Thackery & The Drivers, one of my all time favourites.

Incidentally, Jimmy Thackery was born on 19 May 1953, the day before me... so he's from the great era and plays a mean axe.
