Impulse-based Matchmaking for Sins?

From the PAX page:

Additionally, Impulse Phase IV makes available a revolutionary new intelligent matchmaking system that enables users to find other gamers to play a personal computer game with “Ready to Play”. The features of Ready to Play include rich matchmaking, built-in scheduling to allow users to send out invitations to play, and safeguard for user information that keep the user in constant control.

Would this be at all similar to Battle.net matchmaking and could it be used for Sins?

I am still lost at what the matchmaking is suppose to do.

Ready2Play allows you to easily pick up players for any game they've listed themselves as having, without them needing to actually be in the game already.

I think the confusion here is that people anticipated something like battle.net's ladder, where every player's performance is tracked and when they search for a game they are paired with an opponent who most reasonably matches their own skill level.  Instead, this appears to be a service designed to help you find who is available currently for any impulse game.

The Sins community is small enough, however, that frequent online players will get to know each other, so the ability to know who is available at any point in time is probably all we need for our purposes.

It could be helpful from drawing in some of the SP community also. For those of us who dont want to play with the competive players per se. We can meet up via this Ready to play, start a long game. Save it and know that we can find each other again to finish it.
