I am thinking about buying the expansion, but I am a bit nervous about download-only titles. If you buy Entrenchment, do you get a big .exe/.zip etc. that you can store on some external medium, or is it tied to impulse?
most games have copyright protections against what you are saying to do, so I'm not quite sure, but I would assume you could not do it with entrenchment. This is tied to impulse, which is a good thing, because you could never really "loose" your game. what the nervousness about?
You can either create an archive with Impulse by right clicking on the game and choosing 'Download and archive' or you can sign in with your Stardock.net account here http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com/Default.aspx to download the installer/archive files. Once you have them, you can burn them to disc for archiving.
or you could go into your install folder, and just zip the entrenchment folder...
