Jump through worm hole without research?

Hi, everyone~

I used to play a smaller map without jump whole. Today, I found a strange thing when I paly a super large multi-star map.

I note that my scout ship and my capital ship can travel through the worm hole in the begin of the game start, and I also saw Computer's scout ship traveling through it, too. (I play on my own). I remember that I should only be able to travel through the worm hole after I research the technology "worm hole navigation"! or the technology would be useless? What happen? A bug after patch? (I have entrenchment and update it to lastest version).

were you playing ancient gifts?

or had fount the jumpdrive relic?

if yes then that is why as the jumpdrive relic grants wormhole travel

on some maps(or it might just be ancient gifts) you start with the ability to go through a worm hole

or as harpo said you could have found the jupfrive relic

I though jumpdrvie relic increase the jump time or reduces the antimatter lost.

I think it does one of those and also allows you to do star-star jumps and wormhole navigation without the prerequisite technologies.

Man, that map bugs me.  If it's your thing, that's fine.  It's just not mine.

It reduces AM usage by 30% and enables worm hole travel.  It might increase interstellar travel speed, but I'm not sure...

i was once playing a map with jump holes and i was trying so hard not to do the jump hole research. there were two ways to get to the thrid system, star jump or wormhole.

i finally got desperate enough, since i had control of the WH but he had the star.

i researched wormhole jumps and jumped to a desert planet to secure the wormhole on the other end.

explored and found the jump drive relic.... *Face Palm*

I found it indeed is map-only setting.

I am playing the special ancient-gift map~

I note the description when I play it again

"the ability of worm hole navigation" is the ancient gift
