Metaverse Scoring

While the game has progressed incredibly well since the original release, one thing that continues to bug me is the seemingly random nature of Metaverse scores.

I just finished a game in which I scored over 3500 points (according to the game). Happy with this score, I submitted it to the Metaverse thinking it would sit nicely along some of my more impressive scores.

When I actually checked the metaverse though, it reported not 3500 points. No, it only awarded ~600 points!

Surely it is a tad unfair to leave it like this. Submitting scores to the metaverse should be less random. The other day I scored well over 13000 points in the game, yet only received a fraction of this in my score. The game was length (many hours), involved much bloodshed (some my own), and was a truly difficult fight to the finish. Yet the metaverse ranked it as poorly as todays (brief) game.

All things being equal, I love the game. I admire the effort that goes into it - now I'd like to see this annoying bug looked at...

As many problems as there are with the metaverse, what you saw is a well known, well documented on this board bug in the display in the game of no actual consequence.

The score you see in the game needs to be raised to the 0.75th power, and that's what the metaverse server does when you submit.

Great. So now I need to pull out the calculator before submitting. There's a lot to compliment with this game - but this ain't one of those things.

(I've seen a lot of posts about similar Metaverse anomalies, but you'd think that with all the other bugfixing/improvements going on right now this one would be addressed pretty soon) :notsure:

Apparently the problem is that they kept right on plugging on the expansion thinking that this version would keep us all fat and happy until then. So, now the code is now all mixed up with expansion specific features which complicates them getting another build out the door.

However, given that in addition to the cosmetic bug you were complaining about, Brad's new fangled pop smoothing adjustment has a blue whale sized hole in it and is handing out negative scores, they're going to have to figure out some way to do it.
