[Another] Alliance Victory question

The wording of the Alliance Victory on the victory info page in the game, suggests that if one has an alliance with all non-minor AIs that the player is not presently at war with, then Alliance Victory has been achieved.  Is that really the intended wording?

A literal interpretation of that definition would include the following scenario:

1) One achieves an Alliance with one AI

2) With that Alliance sealed, the player declares war on all other AIs.

Would that be a Victory?

Or, would I have to wait a full turn and Win only if all the other members of the Alliance (possibly only one AI) honor the Alliance and also declare war?

This relates to my other Q this morning.  With 8 AIs remaining, I am at war with one, am allied with four, and the three others are either drifting my way or steadfast neutral towards me.  One of my allies is about to achieve a Research Victory.  If I force the Alliance to declare war on the three remaining Neutral AIs, will that yield an Alliance Victory for me?

(I do not know if it matters, but all races are at war with the one AI that I am at war with.)

Alliance Victory is only acheived when all major races still in play are allied with you.  That means if you are at war with 1 of the races and are allied with the rest....kill off that heathen!

I agree that what you said should be the intent.

When I re-read the precise words on the page last night, though, I think they are as I stated!

<sigh>  Maybe I'll check them again tonight.

You cannot win an alliance victory until you have an alliance with ALL surviving major civs. This means your options are 1) ally with everyone or 2) ally with a few, then exterminate the ones you are not allied with. If you are currently at war with someone, the only victories you have available are research and ascendance (technically you are not at war with anyone when you win a conquest victory)

Okay - I agree that should be the intent and the coding.

If I get a chance tonight, I will re-check those words and, if they are as i recalled, i will type them in a post here.  If I misremember, I will state that. as well.

Okay, here is the exact wording on my DA Victory screen:

"Form Alliances with all the major races you're not currently at war with to win through Alliance victory."

So, tell me why if there are 7 races left, if I have formed Alliances with 6 and am at war with one, why I would not have an Alliance victory?  I have not managed that yet, mind you, but that situation would comply with that victory condition wording.

Yeah, that's a typo.

That's too bad!

Otherwise, all one needs to win at any level would be to get just ONE alliance with any major AI.

Then simply declare war on all the others ....  ;-)

Yeah...too easy.
