Impulse won't run with the "Impulse was not able to create its temporary directories..." error dialog

Anyone have any ideas

I'm having problems getting impulse to run, and I thought it couldn't hurt to see if anyone in the comunity has solved this problem.

The basics is winXP with fat32 file system (so can't run the bat file at: http://sd.stardock.com/mike/apps/stardock_access.bat since it requires NTFS)

I've tried

  • my account has admin privaledge
  • tried using the "run as" to run as administrator
  • rebooting
  • reinstalling
  • uninstalling Impulse, uninstalling .net, reinstalling both
  • setting up sharing on the everything in the
    • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Stardock\Impulse\Temporary

I've gone through 4 rounds of back/forth in email with Customer support and they seems to be baffled at best (completely uncaring is more my guess, their latest advise was to run impulse and change where the temporary directory was) now if Impulse would run I would change where its temporary directory is, but of course as I told them in my initial problem report, I can't get impulse to run.

So, anyone have any ideas?

Do you have any memory resident Spyware/Anti-Virus/Firewalls running when you try to install? If so disable them during the installation. I have to disable Windows Defender every time I run Impulse.

Thanks for the advise, I did have a couple Spyware/Anti-Virus running.  Shut them down, re-installed, but still no go.
