Cheat problems

Ok this question isn't about how I go about enabling cheats. I already did the shortcut and added "cheat" at the end of the title line. My question is using the cheats in game.

For example, when I go to put in the 10,000BC cheat (Ctrl + M) nothing happens. I'm using a laptop so I dont know if that affects anything or not. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Are you using the Ultimate Edition?  If so, simply putting the "cheat" at the end won't do anything.  You have to add it to the individual game (Dread Lords, Dark Avatar, Twilight of the Arnor) launch code.

No, no.  You can still do it.

Go into your Stardock Games folder, and then open the "Galactic Civilizations II: Ultimate Edition" folder.

There is an icon named "GalCiv2".  This is vanilla Dread Lords.

You should also see folders named "Twilight" and "DarkAvatar."  Opening those you will find icons named "GC2TwilightoftheArnor" or "GC2DarkAvatar" respectively.

Create a Desktop Shortcut of any or all of those icons.

Right click on the new Desktop shortcut and go to Properties.  Where it says Target, add "cheat" to the end of the line.  There ya go.

Double clicking on the shortcuts now will launch the game with cheats enabled.

In what way are you typing it in at the end of the target line? I have put it before the .exe, backslashed it before the .exe, and run it after the .exe, and this is the message I keep receiving...

The name 'C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Galactic Civilizations II - Ultimate Edition\DarkAvatar\GC2DarkAvatar\Cheat.exe' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct.

I get a similar message every time I enter it for any of the three games. Am I doing something wrong?

Problem is, that page still hasn't been updated to include how to use cheats using the Ultimate Edition. (and, at least in my case, those cheat implementation codes don't work for the UE)

Here is what you need to input:

Dreadlords - "C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Galactic Civilizations II - Ultimate Edition\GalCiv2.exe" cheat

Dark Avatar - "C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Galactic Civilizations II - Ultimate Edition\DarkAvatar\GC2DarkAvatar.exe" cheat

Twilight - "C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Galactic Civilizations II - Ultimate Edition\Twilight\GC2TwilightOfTheArnor.exe" cheat
