We're looking into it.  Probably related to the database changes last night/this morning.

Brace yourselves for 200 online players.

LOL Zubaz, your response is priceless.

He didn't rationalize it. He explained where the number came from and also stated that it was the same system as the old page except it lists all the servers not just 1 of them.

Except it doesn't drop below 1.2k, ever. I think something else is wrong with it.

Do you just sit in front of your computer all day watching the players online for demigod? Personally i find it amazing you have the kind of fortitude to have done that myself i would probably have done something else at one point or another and my statement would have been a complete and utter logical debacle.

http://coma.norikumi.com/demigod-stats/demigod-stats.txt

I was collecting stats to graph the population, but I'm not sure they're reliable anymore. It only checks every hour, but it's good enough. It's unlikely it dropped below 1200, and the numbers still don't make sense. Am I supposed to people that at any one time, there are at least 1200 people with Demigod open on the Custom Games screen or something?

Maybe I should change it to check every 30 seconds, and after two days I'll be able to say with much higher likelihood that it NEVER drops below 1200. I'm sure some people refresh it more often than 30 seconds, anyway.

Why is something wrong? Because it doesn't drop to zero and activate a dialogue which reads "ZOMG NO1 IS PLAYING TEH GAMEz!!1!"?

You have to be logged in for your friends list/updates to work and to PM somebody. It is quite possible a lot of players log in and stay logged in for hours to get messages from their friends. I'm often logged in for the whole afternoon although I will only play a few games per day. For the same reason I don't log out when I play an offline game. Maybe players keeping an eye on the games list in Impulse count too?

I think the numbers are accurate (except for today obviously due to server maintenance).

I use http://www.xfire.com/games/demigod/Demigod/ to see the trend of a game population. In DemiGod's case the hopeful stuff is it does spike everytime a release occurs and the 50% coupon saw a huge spike. Unfortunately it only does a month and only for those players that use xfire - though that has a reasonably good cross section of the community - maybe more MP minded than SP

Be interesting to see how the demo effects it

I never said it had to drop to 0, but dropping to 1000 would be nice...

But you knew that and you're just arguing.

Not really arguing, just point out that the reason your mostly unhappy with the online statistics is because they don't support what could be perceived as a negative view of the amount of players that online at any one point.

I was genuinely bemused, yet excited when i saw 60000+ people online.

Someone take a screenshot? A goal to work towards maybe. :)

How about instead of making stupid assumptions about me and pretending to have psychoanalytic ability, you consider what I said? The count doesn't make sense.

Which was acknowledged in the first reply in the thread. And what analytic ability is required to deduce from your postsm such as

that you believe Demigod is played by a mere handful of players and any information that evidences otherwise is part of a, for lack of a better word, conspiracy.
