Impulse worth it/Required?

Hey guys,

first post here.  Huge DotA fan and i heard this game was similar.  Just installing it now.  I was told to install Impulse and I know this is probably a stupid question, but is it necessary to run impulse?

 I think that impulse is required for online play as it uses your impulse account to sign into multiplayer. I dont think you actually need impulse running in the background however to sign in, just your account info.

you can only update via impulse, but you do not need it running

Haha, I just came back to remove my post.  Thanks! It's clear now.  I guess i just wasn't sure what impulse was (whether it was something similar to STEAM or not), and I'm lazy enough where I guess i would prefer to bother others and take up space on the forums :-D

Impulse is necessary to install and update Demigod. Since there are regular updates to Demigod, it would be wise to leave it hang around after you get the game installed.
