I am going to have to use system recovery to re-install Vista. What files do I need to back up to install Stardock again. I have copies off all registrations/serial numbers. Can you advise please
You can just do a clean install of all your apps using Impulse. You would just need to login with your current registered e-mail. If you want to archive your apps, then you can see this article.

use Impulse to archive each app - move the archive files to removable media
then when OS reinstalled you can use Impulse to restore the archives
move all downloaded skins, icons, etc also
else, if your sub is current you just reinstall Impulse and use it to download new versions
Seems like if he's having problems and he does an Impulse archive and restore now, and any of his Stardock apps are wrapped up in his problems, he chould end up restoring problems?
maybe.. but if it's suspected of being such - rule of thumb would be to restore one at a time, playing it with to make sure it's not the culprit before restoring the next
Best bet would be to just download fresh through Impulse. If you would like archive files to restore later to save a download, right click on the item you want to download and choose 'Download and archive'. This will only download it however. To install, click the orb in the upper left and choose 'Restore archive' and then pick what you would like to restore.
Alternatively, you could use Impulse Anywhere http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com/Default.aspx
Sign in with your Stardock.net account and you will see the programs listed for download. Get the installer and the archive files.
