Why I love my name.

Samantha...

When I first received my name the day I was born, my parents had to know that it has so many other names inside of it. I get called every name imaginable…

When I was younger, I hated my name. I just didn’t like the way it sounded and thought it was ugly. When my mom told me I could not change my name, I always preferred to be called by Sammie or Sam because I thought they were not as “girly” as Samantha. I was too shy to tell anyone my “name preference” so I just cringed whenever someone called me Samantha and dealt with it.

Later on… I began to accept my name. My whole name. And now… I prefer to be called Samantha over anything else. I really don’t mind if people call me Sam or Sammie…. or even by my last name. I just like the name Samantha better than any of the others. It sounds more formal and I love to here people say it. It’s also pretty and not as common as most names.

I know, I do sign notes and my articles here and JU as Sam, but that’s because…. I don’t know why. It’s shorter and easier to spell. lol

I love my name, it is a symbol of who I am. For all of my friends who call me by my “nicknames”, I want to let you know that I really don’t mind. I just love my name. I don’t ever want to change it.

I am who I am…

~Sam

I think your name is beautiful. When I was a little girl and played Barbies, my name was always Samantha. When I got older, I always wanted to name my daughter Samantha. I am glad you have learned to love it.

Lucky you, Samantha -- but I guess I'd've probably grown used to a name with usable variants, the variants of mine were no less twirly-girly than the full shebang so when I hit forty and STILL hated it, I gave myself the birthday gift of a name I liked better.
Now the only people allowed to still use the old name are the ones who are so senile that they just as often call me by my sister's name or my mother's name instead...

I like the name Samantha, but there are certain reasons for that , I love the way it kind of rolls off the tongue, Samantha. Hehe, now I'm all jibbly inside.

I used to be able to tolerate Andy but now that I'm a little older, Andy sounds kind of child-like. I'm starting to answer to Andrew and I think it sounds a little older and not so kiddy. Either way, I'll answer to Andy or Andrew, doesn't matter to me.

Dude, I grew up with you for 16 years, you're NOT making me switch to Andrew now.

As for me, I answer to either Glorious Leader, or Jarvis McGriddlesby. Whichever you prefer.
