IMPULE update and verify install issues

registry entry not set ??

I used the "impulse" to verify my install and it gives me a message that the game is not properly installed and to look for an update ....

OK,.. I found an update and attempted to install it ,...  files is titiled "GalCiv2_140X_102606.exe"

 now it gives me a message about a regkey not being set and aborts the update . 

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2" appears to be blank ]

???? I'm really confused now,....
