Running OD on Dual Boot System

Hello all,

First off let me start by saying that I am new to OD and apologize up front for my lack o knowledge or ability to locate anything on the subject.

I have looked thru the OD forums here and googled around the web but have not been able to find the answer I'm looking for. I am running a dual OS system and wanted to know if OD will work on both the OSs or if it will conflict?

I ask this question because I have OD setup on Win XP pro and want to try it on my other OS (windows 7), but I don't want to mess up the settings on the XP side of things.

Any information on the subject or links on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Ok friend, I can see you do not understand a Dual boot system, so here it is in a nutshell - "Dual Boot: The ability to boot your computer using one of two different operating systems" http://www.pccomputernotes.com/pcterms/glossaryd.htm ,The answer is both the OS's are independent of each other and do not use the same software installs, or should never use, the same installs, as most the time the software, and/or drivers for each OS (most the time) will not work correctly on the other. So you must install the correct version of OD on both OS's for it to work on both, and both OS's are independtent of each other and there software.

sirbearone,

Oops, you got me. I’m definitely not tech savvy as they would say. Thank you for your helpful input on how the dual boot OS systems work. I have installed OD on my other OS and all is good. Thanks again.

I've been dual booting and running OD on both for some time with no issues at all.  Object Desktop will work for XP, and Vista (that's my setup)  Some of the functions may work in Windows7, not sure about that though.  You shouldn't have any issues with XP or Vista though, unless you are running a 64 bit system, then you may have a few problems.

I dual boot in vista and win7. No problem with OD using either OS. You could actually save your setup in on your first OS and after you install OD on your other OS just import your setup and you won't have to do it over.

Same thing I do; it's great not having to set it up multiple times.
