New WC Poll: Are You Going to Skin Windows 7?

Vote Now!

https://www.wincustomize.com/webpoll.aspx

In the last poll on WinCustomize we asked if you have downloaded Windows 7 RC.  Judging by the results, the answer is an overwhelming yes.

This week I wanted to expand on that and ask if you are interesting in customizing the visual look of Windows 7, with applications such as WindowBlinds.

Only from those that answered the poll. Not a very large number of the PC owners let alone those that use WindowBlinds is it?

I'm sure thought that is how these polls go.  Only those that actually see it will even consider responding and of those it appears not very many did.  I'm sure that's just human nature.

As far as skinning, if you have the software and are currently changing the look of your desktop, what ever the OS, you will probably continue to do that.  I know I will.

This is kind of a silly poll. Obviously the answer will be an overwhelming yes on a site dedicated to skinning pretty much everything. :)

I want to DL it, but I don't have the extra PC to put it on. I really don't wanna put it on this one. From all I have read, I think I am the only person who is problem free with Vista and I want to keep it that way. If I ever get another HD for the my previous PC, I might consider it, though I am leaning towards some version of Linux.

I voted "Not yet, but plan to" back when the poll started, but have since downloaded and installed it on my laptop (not the netbook).

I voted no. Stardock and I are now in divorce court. We're arguing over Impulse, they insist, I refuse, no reconciliation is forthcoming. When I switch to Win 7, it will include a fresh install and a final decree on our divorce. I'll leave the marriage with no hard feelings. I wish SD continued success.

Didn't purchase these yummy SD apps to have them collecting dust in an obscure folder someplace on a long forgotten HDD.

Yup, I'll be customising Win 7 orright.... it's obligatory! :)

Not really, although I did replace the shell with LiteStep. Can't live without it

Same here.... can't live without it, that is, though for me it's Winstep Xtreme.  In Vista at the moment, but I'll have to boot into Win 7 shortly to see if it'll install Xtreme Ok.

yes, and where is the alpha or beta of windowblinds to try it??? I purchased a subscription of windowblinds but cannot use it :( . I thought surely when RC comes along there will be something to try... Looking forward to..... when?

One day, when I need a new computer, I'll have Windows 7. Right now, my Vista is rock-solid (after a few hiccups that have been solved) -- but I didn't even get Vista until I needed a new computer that happened to have Vista on it.

Thats the first thing I did!!

There's more than one way to skin an OS. So saying no just because you (at least for the time being) won't use stardock products is potentially inaccurate.

Hope you're not expecting an alimony settlement. :-"

Po - refer to my reply in the post from the last poll. You don't have to download the Win7 RC from Microsoft... you can download a pre-built VMware virtual machine with Win7 RC already installed in it. You can download the free VMware Player software for your Vista PC to run the free VM on it. No changes to your existing OS or hardware, and no conflicts with the beta/RC OS! It's a perfect world. :-)

Well, with the exception of being illegal, I'm quite sure it can be done that way...

i highly doubt that. I haven't seen the link but if VMWare put out the image you could rest assured that it is legit to do so.

Vmware did NOT put it out. It's a hack using the freely available vmware runtime components.

Mickeko - Correct in that VMware themselves did not put out the image. The VM was created and the download is hosted by bagvapp. See the informational page on VMware's site at http://www.vmware.com/appliances/directory/node/146943, and the actual downloads http://bagside.com/bagvapp/. It is NOT illegal, and it is NOT a hack using freely available VMware runtime components. The VMware Player is completely legal. And this image is ALSO completely legal - or else Microsoft themselves would have requested the hosting company to pull it down!
