operation slowness

OK, so here's the deal.  Over the past several months I've had slowness issues.  The issue only appears when I multiple, typically over two.  As soon as I start the third download, everything will get really slow.  It will become almost impossible to do almost anything.  Simply trying to close an IE window will take several minutes.  This occurs with all of the Window Blinds themes that I have tried.  After troubleshooting I've noticed that switching to the Windows Classic View or the default XP theme immediately resolves the problem.

I've also just reloaded XP.  So I have a clean install with new drivers and the issue still occurs.  Anyone have any ideas?

Are you saving the skins or installing them...perhaps if you're installing them at the same time, that slows you down. There could be additional problems like the bandwidth available to you according to whichever plan you have with your ISP and whether other people are online at your home at the sametime....If you're on cable, maybe the LAN in your neighborhood is being heavily used (or folks are downloading movies) while you're downloading as well?

I have the skins installed.  The downloads I'm referring to are just misc files...NOT other skins or Stardock files.  And I'm not referring to my download speed decreasing.  I'm saying the computer becomes sluggish.  For instance, trying to move a window or even close a download or an open IE window doesn't work.  Closing a window can take several minutes.  If, while this "slowness" is occurring, I switch to the Classic or XP theme, everything returns to normal.  I can then download as many files as I want without any issues.

Open the WindowBlinds Configuration screen and click on "System info" then click the "Copy text" button. Paste that info here.

I've also noticed that while the "slowness" is occurring, cpu usage is at 1-2%.  And I'm using IE 7, if it matters.

And as much as I hate Impulse, that isn't the issue.  I had the same problem before I reinstalled XP last week.  And I wasn't using Impulse until the reload of XP.

Impulse is just the method used to download and update Stardock products. The 'only' reason it was suggested was to have your WindowBlinds updated to see if this would resolve your issues with slowness. There must be something else causing this to happen and if you haven't done so already, please email [email protected] and start a trouble ticket.  They will be able to work with you to get this matter fixed.
