URGENT: The recent Patch broke the game! Can't play online or offline now

My roommate, my friend from NC also can't play now.

So I've had this game since release, worked fine until this most recent patch, it says patch updated 5/12/09  this is the patch that broke the game.   Now when I play single or multiplayer the loading screen says NO TEXT, and I get an unhanlded exception error.

SO I thought it was just me, turns out my friend (roommate) and my friend from NC who also updated now can't play online or offline so there is no way this is an isolated problem with just us.  Also our games were working fine before the patch.

So we thought hey just uninstall the game, and reinstall it, NOPE its still broken.  This is very frusterating and I asked other people online and they can play.  I hope this can be resolved soon.

NOTE: I have windows xp sp 3, my friend has windows vista 64, my other friend has windows vista 32, again this is ONLINE and OFFLINE, it will freeze at the loading screen and the error is speaking of returning NIL.  All of us have the same errors.

Okay so my buddy from NC found the solution on this forum.  For some werid reason, you need to delete the folder located in:

C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\My Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\demigod

This will fix the problem.  No idea why but that last patch screwed the game and this was the only solution.  The fact that this folder wouldn't be deleted when you uninstall the game blows my mind.  You should at least ask the user, hey do you want to delete EVERYTHING even your saved games will be lost, if so, then delete that folder as well.  Just don't leave it on the clients computers if they want to uninstall the game.

 

This game is great and I realize the programming team is small but damn, stuff like this is what is going to kill the game.  I'm a software engineer myself and I realize how you sometimes gota bite the bullet and release the software but having these types of crazy errors which makes the game unplayable is what will turn people off and want a refund.

 

Its like the Gears of War port to the PC for the first month, they literally could not get the game to work.  It works great now but no one is playing it because it was such a flop at the start by word of mouth it just killed the game sales.

We are aware and are working to isolate the cause of this bug. If it happens again, you only need to delete the Game.prefs file, not the entire user folder.
