Multiplayer worked perfect for me. Until 5/11 patch. What happened...

I use to be able to get in and out of lobbies quick AND play games with no lag (with my new connection). Now ever since I downloaded the patch I can't even get into a lobby. I'm not gonna get pissed off and start denouncing anyone, but can get I a response as to why this might've happened? I just want to know if there is anything I can do to get it working again.

I greatly appreciate everything Stardock and GPG have done thus far, but I don't understand how I went from having a perfectly fine experience with not only custom games and skirmish/pantheon, to not even being able to get into a lobby at all. I tried multiple times and got a "could not connect to NAT" or something message. My points are opened and forwared as they always have been since first mention of them. This is the first time any of this has happened.

Please let me know what is going on, or atleast keep me in the loop so I can understand what's going on. If I have to wait for another patch or something, so be it. I just don't want to be left in the dark. Thanks.

This has been a problem for everyone. They're going to try and fix it on Tuesday. I personally just had a match where everyone but me got disconnected at the same time.

Edit: There are a couple of posts about this, including one from Frogboy. You should check them out.

I saw Frogboys posts after I had already started this thread, but I hadn't realized it wasn't just me. In a weird way, I feel better knowing it isn't just me. I guess I'll just sit tight and wait for the patch and hope it fixes things up.

I haven't had too many connection issues, but everytime I "dropped" it was because of a crash.  I even crash in the lobby when the game isn't even ready to start =(.

Count me in on this issue....working fairly well for both skirmish and custom...then patch and BOOM..."Cannot connect to NAT faclitator".

Occurs for both skirmish, and custom games.  Since I see others have this issue, I'll refrain and wait.

Hoping for a fix soon....Great Game, miss it already.  I saw frogboys posts, but didn't recognize the correlation between "cannot connect to NAT facilator".

You're going about it all wrong. YOU got disconnected from everyone else, not everyone else got disconnected from you. It's most likely everyone else kept playing.

Hm, that's odd. Ever since the last patch, the Cannot connect to a NAT facilitator problem was fixed for me. Maybe they changed something, that fixed it for my case, but broke it for others..? That would be bad, because I wouldn't want them to simply revert the changes, obviously ;)

Same problems for me, before things were pretty good bar the odd 0 ping and now I get the NAT failure message in maybe half the games I join. What I have noticed though is it's certain people I can't connect to, I have a friend who I was trying to play with and we couldn't connect regardless of the circumstances: when he hosted, when I hosted or when we were in someone elses game. The latter showed a 0 ping to my friend even if I connected to everyone else fine, and in games where he or I hosted it just wouldn't connect.

Well, I got into some custom games today, but every single one of them ended with players disconnecting, or having sync errors, and other odd stuff. None of the games got completed. I seem to be getting into the lobbies fine, as weird as that is, but the games keep failing.

I tried playing skirmish and couldn't get intoa  game, took forever trying to find a game. Never found one.

I just get stuck on "waiting for connection data" on every type of game custom- pantheon- skirm.

Epic fail patch given I am port forwarded and everything.

I also get "waiting for connection data" indefinately with the new patch. Worked perfectly on Sunday with non-beta patch. Windows 7. Firewall off. Ports forwarded from Netgear.

Don't have any problems with Dawn of War 2, Company of Heroes, Warcraft 3.

I can provide Wireshark trace if required. Ran PortCheck which confirms that my ports are open.

Okay, I really hope that the dev' team will read this. I forwarded the ports I'm supposed to, and I have no firewall. I have these issues, and afaik many other people have also experienced them :

- Can't play any game in Pantheon or Skirmish. Either i'm unable to find any games (i tried to wait 30+ min without success), or, when I find a game (2v2, 3v3, whatever...), there are 1 or several AIs and 1 or 2 players max. I'm not playing online to play with AIs, which totally screw the game by feeding the enemy.

- Custom Games : I can access a lobby, but it's hard to have everyone connect with each other. Often, we have to create a new game and everyone have to rejoin. And eventually we all have green pings. But it's quite random...

When we finally manage to launch a custom game : LAG ! There is a permanent and regular lag which is really annoying, with sometimes monster spikes.

And, finally, random disconnection : i played today 5 4v4 games, and we haven't been able to finish even one game with the 8 players. Last game I played, we were 8, and suddenly, at 40min played, everyone disconnected except me, and another player (so it's not me who disconnected cause i could speak to a player, but every other players had been replaced by AIs (0 ping, not responding)).

Okay, I thought the last patch was supposed to fix many issues... But the game is still unplayable.

It's really, really annoying cause it's such a fucking good game, but we can't play it.

One (genuine) question to the devs : why haven't you used a LAN-like networking system, like Hamachi or Garena ? I am a DotA player, and Garena works perfectly to play online with other people. So, what's the difference with Demigod ? Could a similar system work ?

Keep up the good work, and thanks again for this great game. I hope we'll soon be able to finally enjoy it !

Edit : Last problem, which isn't network related : the favor points are still totally buggy ! I always have the same number of points (2000ish), and I have to rebuy the favor items each games (they don't stay "bought"). So at the moment the favor points system makes no sense : I can buy whichever item I want at every new game...

That makes no sense. I continued playing as well, so are you suggesting there were 2 games going on at the same time? Also, according to my stats, I won and was the only one to recieve favor. Which means I was the only non-AI player.

With todays patch (05/12), the ability to play custom games has been restored.  I am no longer seeing the "Cannot connect to NAT facilitator".

I can not speak for skirmish yet.  The current skirmish behavior is that the system looks for a game to join for approx 1 minute, and then I'm immediately placed in a game with all AI.  Could be a new issue, or could be that there is no one on skirmish.  Will report should I suceed.

Thank you,

M

I haven't tried the new patch yet, although I did have some success earlier today using yesterdays patch. I am not entirely sure if it was just a minor hiccup, or what, but I will test again using the new patch and report my findings to this thread. I am faily confident that is everything is fine now.

Count me in on this issue. Worked fine before the patch, then the NAT error started to occur for me too :(

It makes sense, it is what happens in any RTS out in the past 5 years at least.

If you see everybody disconnecting, it means that you disconnected. In some games, 2 games will continue. In some others, if the disconnected guy was the host, he will continue to play alone and everybody else will be disconnected, but IT WILL STILL BE BECAUSE THE HOST LAGGED. I don't know which one it is for Demigod.

Don't call a "no sense" randomly and try to read between the lines.

I didn't call a no sense "randomly", it didn't make any sense to me. How am I supposed to "read between the lines" when there was no detail in the post besides him saying that I'm the one that was disconnected? Don't call a post random and take your own advice.

I am glad that you finally understood your own answer which you elaborated from his reply, which had no detail to allow this.

I never had trouble understanding my own answer, thank you very much. I am, however, having trouble completely understanding your above reply. If you're trying to insult me by saying my post didn't have detail then I'm afraid it was a weak attempt, as I described why I didn't understand his reply just fine, seeing as how you were able to acurately explain why I was apparently wrong. If you weren't trying to insult me then ignore the above.

In any case I'm gonna go ahead and end this "argument" before it goes too far.
