Valve's insights into the sniper class have some bearing on Regulus, I believe.

Specifically:

"You're often killed by them [snipers] while you're engaged with an enemy in the foreground, and most of the time the Sniper is so far away it feels like you couldn't have dealt with him even if you didn't have enemies nearby. In fact, the Sniper's goal is to create that relationship: he specifically wants to fight enemies outside their engagement range, because that's his primary advantage."

When facing a wellplayed Regulus, or worse, a couple on the same team, this frustration is quick to form for many people.  Any ideas on how to apply Valve's research to this particular Demigod, or class of Demigod?

Well, the main difference is that Regulus dosen't have as much range than a TF2 Sniper has. And his long range attack is to finish people up.

Reg unlike the Team Fortress sniper, is not capable of one hit kills or head shots. He is more of a harrasser and finisher... it's not really sniping. He's also great for protecting his teammates... a shot from regulus can quickly turn the battle for a teammate engaged with an enemy demigod.
