Bad graphical performance/glitching

I recently purchased Demigod but have been unable to get it running well. Changing the settings seems to have no effect on the performance of the game, or on how it displays. I meet the min specs, and exceed them on everything except CPU speed. I tried updating my video drivers, which had been updated in March, but that had no effect.

I'm running an AMD 2ghz CPU. Radeon x850T. 2gb RAM. Windows XP.

Here is a screen shot of how the game looks on my computer. It's running at about 1-2 fps, and this screenshot is the lowest settings possible.

Any ideas?

The x850 does not meet the game's minimum requirements as it lacks Shader Model 3 support. The only solution is to upgrade to a newer video card (ATI added SM3 in the x1000 series).

Thanks for the quick reply Kryo. I think I was looking at old system requirements that stated I would only need an x800 to run the game. Anyone have a sub-200 PCI-E x16 card to recommend?

Sub 200 what? Lots of currencies out there ya know :D

Assuming you mean dollars, you can probably get an 48XX ATI for under that no problem. a 4770 is a very nice card with great performance for around $125 too.

for that price range, on of the following;

  • HD4770,
  • HD4830,
  • HD4850.
higher numbers are better performance, search around and look for the best prices. shopbot.com is a good place to look if you're not tied down to any particular website (*cough* newegg *cough* crap).

Just ordered a HD4850. I'm a little worried my CPU isn't going to be up to task for this game either, and I dont think I can justify building a new PC right now (though it's about time for one, this one is about 3-4 years old). Thanks for the suggestions though, we'll see what happens.
